« on: May 04, 2016, 04:43:41 AM »
Hi all, was wondering if anyone would be interested in me making some of my apoxie clay wings for them?
If so what price should I charge?
Also just wanted you all to know I have an Instagram account just for my customs xxx under lovelauraland

This is a great idea as not everyone is good at sculpting (like myself!)

I'm not sure what you could charge, these are time consuming to make I imagine?

Yes, they take a lot of time to make but I'm open to suggestions on price, I have seen fairy wings made of wire and acetate and rainbow film go for £15 on eBay so I was thinking as mine are sculpted they would be worth more? X

i think i still have at least one project that i need wings for, but the question is, will you make generic wings for people to purchase? do they have to send you a pony to get wings?

as far as cost. how much does the apoxie cost? i know i have some apoxie that i got for about 7$ for a 1/2 pound of it. but i had a coupon. the trick is, making it affordable enough that people will use the service, but not cheat yourself on time. etc. my cut is 5 to 20$ depending on size and detail, (like 5 for a baby or mcpony) and keep it open for more elaborate wings.
some people might just ask for more than just wings too, like the furred hooves, horns, maybe a unicorn tail etc. so unless you made premade wings for different size or types of ponies, you are essentially open a sculpting service. i know i love painting ponies, and i've been working on getting better at the sculpting aspect, but ordering a complete pony is something i rarely do, but ordering the sculpting might be something i would do. not sure.

wow. that got long sorry. not sure if that's helpful. your skill level you could charge more, but in general the prices listed above is what i would pay for wings, otherwise i'd just try doing it myself and hopefully learn from the experience.

Thanks rosierjay,
I was thinking of just making the wings, I don't need a pony to make them as they are wired and can be poked into a pony of choice, I can make them small or large and they won't be painted so the customer can paint them themselves.
I hadn't thought of the furry hooves sculpt, I think I would have to include the bait if so.
In which case I could do a whole bait services which will include sculpted wings already sculpted onto the bait with furry hooves, then it will be up to the customer to re-hair the bait and paint it whatever they wish, that sounds like a great idea!
So they would get:
Bait pony (pose of choice)
Sculpted wings (already added to pony)
Sculpted furry hooves

Question is how much to charger? And if anyone would be interested x

Personally, if I had the funds (and the need) I would Definitely commission you for just a pair of your wings as I flat do not have the time for big sculpt projects atm. That and your wings are flat gorgeous, of course. ^.^

Hm, not sure if this will work out.

I think you'd need to charge a lot of money to get what your time is worth if you hand-sculpt them.
Think about what material cost and how much time you need.
How much do you need to earn per hour to make it profitable?
Would you probably earn more if you complete your customs yourself and sell them?

I'd love to get a pair of your wings, but as I probably could do similar (not as gorgeous though) wings myself and I normally sell my customs I don't think I would pay more than 20 GBP on them and that would be an insult to your time and effort.

Thanks puuush, that's really helpful and the priceing sounds fine to me.
I work fast on my wings! I just don't have the patience to do re-hairing at the moment so I can't really make a full custom, I think it's because I'm still a bit down about loosing my job :(
I will make a few pairs and put them up for sale on eBay and see how it goes x
