Hasbro Annual Report Out
« on: April 11, 2016, 06:35:57 PM »
For you business junkies, here's Hasbro's 2015 Annual Shareholder's Report

http://files.shareholder.com/downloads/HAS/1870646862x0x883653/E95A5C8D-DFAA-4ACB-BB2C-844E50306A01/Annual_Report_for_Web.pdf

A summary for pony: "Four legs good.  Two legs bad."

The pony side of My Little Pony is up in net revenue but Equestria Girls saw a larger fall in net revenue.  I always thought EG was a flash in the pan that would come and go.

Though, MLP is apparently a 1 billion dollar brand is an awesome milestone.
I spent five years learning Atmospheric Science on the university level.  I come out of it with the ultimate knowledge of the universe.  √10 * π ≈ 10.

LPS has been on a decline too but they don't seem to be giving it up. The EG movies have been popular enough it just hasn't translated to doll sales and the Minis are too new to gauge tho I think once they fix the flaws they will be more popular with their "accuracy".

:lmao:

It's pretty cool that MLP is one of the four toylines featured on the cover.

But NERF is their biggest brand, really??  I mean, I guess Nerf toys have always been popular . . . I definitely had some  growing up . . . Still, that surprises me.

The report says My Little Pony is their top-licensed brand this past year.

Also, tons of "There was no TF movie this year!!" excuses for Transformers taking a nosedive.  No, it's because your current TF toys and show aren't very good.  (Except Rescue Bots.  Who continue to rock.)

Quote
Through the development of characters and stories, MY LITTLE PONY is integrated into our fans’ everyday lives. It is bedroom décor, comic books, atelevision program and a live action show. In 2017, ALLSPARK PICTURES, Hasbro’s
film label, in partnership with Lionsgate, is scheduled to bring MY LITTLE PONY to the big screen in our first animated feature film.

So is it live action or animated?  (Please say animated.)

They consider Furby a "girl brand"?  Wow, I always thought of Furbys as being gender neutral . . .

What may not have helped the EQG sales is the rubbish distribution of the FG dolls. Those girls are like gold dust with the exception of 4 who I see EVERYWHERE (and now of course have).

That legs comment! ROFL

I often wondered how popular the EQG dolls were, as I found them in thrift shops a LOT.  I remember seeing dolls that were currently in the stores too.

I'm still waiting to see the roller dolls here in the US. We had plenty of the archery dolls and the motorcross dolls but I'm still waiting on articulated Lemon Zest and Sunny Flare. I'm just hoping it turns out to be like the 2nd wave of Rockin Hairstyle dolls that despite being from Rainbow Rocks showed up at the same time as the FG dolls started to appear in stores.

Especially since so far the only US site to have her is Kmart and they are notorious for not sending the right wave ever.

It's says it will be their first animated feature, so animated.  Though, what kind of animation is still to be announced.

Nerf is surprisingly huge! And they saw a surge in the female market the past couple years because they started marketing that line of Katniss-wannabee stuff.

-giggle- Would a live action MLP movie be ponies with dyed fur running around a big field with badly dubbed voice overs? I would so pay to see that! XD

The live action show already exists, it travels around with those children's festivals - like trade shows and such.  They are horrifying mascot costumes with meningitis heads and awkward bendy legs because it's a horse suit!  With two people in it!

Or something like the Chipmunks or Smurfs movies with live action people and CGI ponies?

Growth in Franchise Brands MAGIC: THE
GATHERING, MONOPOLY, NERF and PLAY-DOH was more than offset by declines in Franchise Brands
LITTLEST PET SHOP, MY LITTLE PONY and TRANSFORMERS
Quote
The girls’ category declined 22% in 2015 compared to 2014, primarily due to expected lower net
revenues from FURBY products, as well as declines in MY LITTLE PONY, NERF REBELLE and LITTLEST
PET SHOP. Core MY LITTLE PONY revenues increased but were, however, more than offset by lower net
revenues from the MY LITTLE PONY EQUESTRIA GIRLS products.
Ouch! See, that's what happens when you tailgate on bandwagons.
