The nicknames you give to your ponies.
« on: April 07, 2016, 02:35:06 PM »
Does any of your ponies have nicknames?
Personnaly my italian aj is called Pineapplejack, because i was showing her to my friend lilimyu, and she told me that the apples on her symbol looked more like pineapples because of their colors.
My Talking princess twilight sparkle is sometimes called demonic twilight, because lilimyu thinks her laugh is creepy like in horror films.
I call my g3 tink-a-tink-a-too tinky just because her name is too long.

My husband calls Princess Sparkle "Professor Bling Bling." I'm not sure where he got that, but... it kind of stuck. XD

I've always had two Princess Tiffanys since I was a kid, so I called one of them Tiffy. Other than that, I can't think of any at the moment...

Mostly I call my ponies by their "real" names, but I do shorten names down whenever I'm feeling lazy/affectionate/I'm looking through them in the store and seeing which ones they have. So Chrysalis = Chryssie, Fluttershy = Flutters, Rainbow Dash = Dashie, Applejack = AJ, etc. Also sometimes if a pony's name is two words long, I just call them by the first word, i.e. Cherries Jubilee = Cherries or CJ. Usually this just goes for the G4s with weirdly long names tho, like Lyra and Trixie XD

My husband calls Princess Sparkle "Professor Bling Bling." I'm not sure where he got that, but... it kind of stuck. XD

A lot of my ponies were bought second-hand as a kid. Since I didn't have their backcards, I didn't know the names of ones that weren't featured in the cartoons. Moonstone, August Poppy, Peachy, Majesty, Sprinkles & Wave Runner were therefore all renamed:

Moonstone was called Earthling.
August Poppy was called Carnation (I thought that's what her flower was)
Majesty was called Gusty. I thought the cartoon had changed her hair & symbols.
Peachy was called Posey (same reason as above)
Sprinkles I think was called Ducky.
I can't remember what Wave Runner was called.

CRUNCHY BUTTS. XD

Oh yeah... My Quackers was found by my dad at a garage sale and she has the name "April Showers" written on her. I guess that's the name her first pony mommy gave her. :)

I prefer the "proper" names as well.  The one thing is to care up confusion with repeat names.  Unicorn Twilight is Twilight Mist and So Soft Pegasus Twilight is Twilight Hope.  Though, I don't own either.

I'll occasionally shorten names (Twilight Sparkle is Twi and Tink a Tink a Too is Tink,) but other than that, I generally go by proper pony names.

I have three Glories, so two of them have nicknames.

The first two Glories came in the same lot, so naturally I decided just to consider them twins lol.  They were among the first G1s in my collection, too.  Anyway, they wound up with the nicknames Hikaru and Kaoru after the twins in an anime I like.  It seems to fit well, plus it gives me a means of differentiating them because Hikaru's symbol has an ink blot next to it.  I should probably sunfade the mark, but then how could I tell them apart?  ;)

Then about a year later I got another Glory in a lot (who is arguably in the best condition of the three, though Kaoru may be a touch whiter, and she's just called Glory XD  if I ever wind up with another Glory, I'm not quite sure what she'll be called.  Now that I have a little mini army in the works, I'm very tempted just to keep going!
