A sushi pony! ....or not.
« on: March 22, 2016, 08:46:34 AM »
So I opened a new blind bag today and this was my thought process:

-opens bag-
Thought 1: !!!! A sushi pony!? This is amazing! He could be my new persona!
Thought 2: What could his awesome name be?
-looks at character card-
Card: "Apple Slice"
Thought 3: .............oh.

 So who else has seen a MLP's symbol/cutie mark and thought it was one thing only to find out it's something else and feel kinda silly afterward?  :P
Thank you Thimble for my amazingly cute avatar!

Oh dear!!

That sounds like something I would've done!!

I've done something similar when I was younger actually, yeah.. I accidentally thought G1 TE Locket's name was "Keyhole."  :| :lookround: Yeah, don't ask me how in the world that happened..keys..locket..keyhole!

I don't know what was worse.. Thinking that was her name OR the fact that my kid self wrote (in black ink) "Keyhole" on her NDS. It's still there to this day. Magic Eraser didn't touch it, but I'm kinda glad it's still there.

   >_<

That pony's cutie mark looks way more like sushi than halved apples.  I can totally understand why you would have made the mistake.

Ummm... The only one I can think of is for the longest time I thought wind whistlers symbol was birds.  I was an adult when I realised they were actually whistles.

I thought Powder's symbol was jacks, like the game jacks.

I didn't understand her symbol / significance of her name until I was an adult.

There was a red boy blind bag several waves back that looked like he had (chemist's) beakers on his haunch in the teeny pre-release photo, & I was excited. They're actually clothes hangers.  I'm suck a geek.

Liquorice has liquorice allsorts, which are gross...so sushi is better. Albeit rarely blue.

I never knew what tropical breeze had for a symbol till I read online descriptions. I had her when 5, I got online at 15, so she had a 10 year id crisis where I alternated berween thinking it a mutated umbrella, a sea monster or an octopus with problems.

I still don't really understand Whizzer's symbol, it doesnt culturally translate.

I swear Skippety Doo has sausages.

Well they are halves, just cut in a different way, I can see the bumps on the bottom that kind of indicates apples
They look kind of the same shape as Red Delicious apples xD
My DeviantArt, why not drop by and take a look!

Yeah, I can see it is and apple cut in half.  But they look too square or something.

It's a propeller hat.  I think Marty Jnr wears one in Back to the Future 2, right?  I don't think people anywhere wear them in real life.

Like this in any case:

I should have been clearer...what I don't understand why a pony which Hasbro dubbed the fastest pony in ponyland has a propellor hat symbol...is that the fastest thing they could think of?

I mostly associate propellor beanies with Calvin & Hobbes, where Calvin ordered one from the back of a cereal box.

The height of popularity for the propellor beanie was the late 1940s, so they aren't something you would see people wearing today (or in the 80s).  From what I've read, they were first created by sci fi fans and then later were a fad among kids.

I had someone point out to me that Seashell's symbol looked like cannabis plants    :P    Maybe that's why she looks so chill and relaxed!
