Horseshoe points
« on: March 16, 2016, 08:23:40 AM »
On the backcards/boxes of G1s there are horseshoe points. I remember them from when I was a kid, but I never really found out what you could get with them. Does anyone remember?

Germany for example had horseshoe points too but we never got actual mailorderPONIES. I collected the points as a kid and got a poster and a carry case for them.

I was in Asia so I used to send them off to my Aunty in the US and she ordered the Pearlized baby ponies and rainbow ponies (with glitter on their cutie marks) set for me. X

im from quebec canada so here we would cut out the points and use them in the mail order program.

you could pick certain mail order ponies from little flyers and you would send in for example 5 horse shoe points plus 4.95 money for shipping and hasbro would send you the mail order ponies in the mail

interestingly here in quebec if you bought more then 20 dollars they would send you a free pony wear pack  :)

i should add they had a history of not sending your full order, at least they did with me numerous times. i ordered all 6 rainbow ponies and only got 4 so the second order they sent me all 6. i also ordered satin n lace and they send me another 6 rainbow ponies and then sent me the bride later  :P

Thanks for the responses everyone.

So if you sent in the points, were the ponies free apart from postage/shipping fees? If so that's pretty awesome!

That sounds like a raw deal compared with the US!! I wonder if this was the case in the UK too?

I didn't realise the rainbow ponies had been available as mail order!

We got shafted in the UK, pretty much xD. We had the Embers, and Baby Lucky. Then the only ponies we had were ones that Hasbro still had left over and couldn't shift - like Magical Breeze, Pony Bride, the Dance School and Baby Half Note...

We had Baby Ribbons and Hearts who seems to have been a unique MO pony, but I've only seen the flier on the wiki, so can't authenticate any of that. I've no evidence relating to it at all, except in regards to her being offered to club members at the end of the club in 1992. We had the 3 club newborns, but most of our horseshoe points were mail offers for things like carrycases, playmats etc. I think eventually they stopped printing the points on our cards, even.

We did get some of the US MO ponies as end of line clearance here, though, in weird stapled packages.

I've some of the fliers scanned on my site ...

Thanks Taffetta- I just checked out the leaflets.

I actually had the playmat so I think my parents must have organised that as I have no recollection of how we got it!

Yeah, I thought we might have got a poor deal compared to the US!
