Do you restore your Nirvana ponies?

Absolutely not! The way it arrives is the way it stays!

I may wash the hair or gently remove surface dirt, but that's about it.

Full cleaning, inside and out!

The poor thing. While I'm at it, I might as well retouch the paint and reroot...

I agree with Tuney! Cleaning anything nasty, sticky and yucky off a pony is good idea :bigups: they may well leave a stain (like spider dirt) or even worse cause deterioration of the pony.

Unfortunately, there was no rescuing the tail once I removed it.  It had disintegrating string or leather (not sure what the material was) in lieu of a metal washer.  She will be glorious again some day!

I've had tails like that and been able to save them :) you need to be soooo careful removing them from the pony. The washer rusts and the additional string disintegrates and if your not careful the tail will fall to bits.

Sometimes the rust can cause the hair to disintegrate though :(

This thread reminds me, I have an Italian Sparkler who had a rusty tail. I removed it, cleaned it, and lost track of it...

Not sure where to find her another!

jrr74, sometimes it just happens like that ;) Although my preference is for original, other people just like them to display nicely, so if they're really dingy it can sometimes be beneficial :)

I generally don't buy nirvanas I need to do much with, because I won't touch up symbols or eyes as I feel that makes them less "authentic."  I do not reroot but I will straighten and smooth hair and remove all possible surface marks.  If the pony has noticeable tail rust or interior grunginess I will open and disinfect but otherwise I don't really bother.

I have this morning been to a "hospital of toy" because I have a minty piggy having eyes full of rust without .Pense tabs would have eyes spare, but the "Doctor" told me he did not have a size as nor they had small black iris color. .However Was possible to repair the eyes and put new eyelashes. 15 euros put eyelashes. It has not seemed expensive, but depends on pony concerned would think to repair or eyelashes.
I have a piggy pony missing some hair plugs .No many. If it were not so difficult beheading, they would put the hair that lack them.

I've done things from partial rehairs, de-rusting of tails, to peroxide sunfading but I'm terrified of touching symbols.  I'd rather they be flawed and somewhat in tact than potentially damaging them further.

I would love to see photos of the restored piggy! I have one myself who has a problem with globs of extra glue around her neck which I'm working on fixing.

Honestly I'd rather have a nice looking pony who has been restored than one left in their original state that looks like they've been in a tornado.
I guess I can see why one would keep a nirvana as is but I don't see the harm in a rehair or newly painted eyes!

Then again I'm the type that purposefully buys poor-shaped nirvana ponies for cheap so I can restore them and have a valuable pony for less lol. I've done that with my Brazillians. :devious:

I definitely will not change the lashes, not worth it.
I thought I would find a spare eyes easier.

I'll do what I need to in order to restore a nirvana to their former glory. Usually it involves new hair and touching up eyelashes. I don't mind baldies or buzz cuts.
