Are the box inserts worth anything?
« on: February 22, 2016, 12:35:59 PM »
Hi everypony! I haven't been on the Arena in a while, so forgive me if this question has been asked in the past.

All my G3 boxes were opened but I taped them back together so I could store them in their original packagings. From afar, they look unopened. They're not exactly MIB like this, but sorta "mint in opened box". :P

I was wondering if the box inserts (the backings of the pony boxes with their descriptions etc.)
as well as the actual plastic packaging itself are worth anything, or increase the value of the ponies?
(If not, I think I just might throw them out since I have no space for empty boxes.)

Do people even collect these, or do most collectors throw them out?

I don't know what they are worth, but I'm certain that you shouldn't throw them out- at least not the backcards. Those plastic packages are really annoying, but the backcards with pictures and info are cool.
If you are planning on tossing them, I'd say to offer them to someone here for the cost of shipping- then they would stay in the community, but they wouldn't be cluttering YOUR house!
Thanks so much to Calico_Star for her beautiful work on my Avatar!

Definitely don't throw them away. Find someone you can send them to in the community.

I don't collect G3 backings and stuff, but I collect G1 backcards and such like and finding some of them is really hard because most people did throw them out. I have no idea what kind of collectability they might or might not have in the future for G3, but I am generally of the opinion, based on G1 experience, that they're better preserved with a collector.

I have like 25 G3 back cards or so and I had them listed in eBay for months at $1.00 for the lot and they still haven't sold. At this point I'm going to throw them out haha.
Thanks to calico star for my avatar!

Mermaid, I hope we find people interested in our backcards! :P

Thanks everyone! I guess I should chuck out the plastic packagings for sure.

I like G3 backcards! I don't keep the boxes but I do have a big stack of backcards. I'm looking for these:

-Marshmallow Coco
-Baby Hula Lula
-Island Rainbow
-Twinkle Bloom
-Silver Rain
-December Poinsettia
-Dream Drifter

If you have any of those I will take them.

Up here they take a lot of space too, just like the flyers that come along. I would also ask just the shipping costs for it or into recycling. Or maybe a nice extra in swaps?

Ah unfortunately I don't have backcards for any of those freeindeed =( Glad to hear you collect them though!  ^.^
Good idea, Barnacle_lady! Saving some for swaps would be a good idea, thanks!

I would probably photograph them all and make a photobucket album and then chuck them :)

G3 back cards are starting to become rather rare, so later on down the line you might wish you still had them. The back cards are the part that everyone wants to keep because they have info on the ponies (along with nice pictures). If you didn't live a country away I would probably be interested in taking them off your hands. Maybe you can find a pony meet or fair to attend and give/sell/trade them to someone there?
