I was born in 1980 so there were no ponies out at the time.

Ooh fun choice!  I was born in '84 so I guess I have year 2 to choose from, pretty tough order as a lot of my favorites I've collected as an adult come from that year (never had any as a kid, of course, though I did get my first ponies from Year 4 when I was 2).

I think I'm gonna pick Gusty (though Bubbles and Seashell are a close second and third)  Here's a photo of mine:

I was born in 85 and OMG.... I can't decide for just one favorite from this year! lol I realized that almost all my favorite ponies are from this year! 

Well, some of my favs: Baby Gusty, Baby Glory, Gingerbread, Fizzy, Paradise, Gusty, Baby Moondancer...

I was born in 1988, very close to 1989.

The 80s is not a decade I tend to be very fond of, MLP's origin aside, so I try not to think about the decade at all. 

Looking through them, Blueberry Baskets looks kind of cute.

The 1988 Twice As Fancy ponies are pretty neat, too.

That's an interesting question. Year 8 of G1 actually holds three of my favorite sets: Starlight babies, Tropical ponies and Rainbow Curls. I love them all equally much.

Wow, I'm learning that we have some young'uns here! I was born in '87, so year 5... I LOVE TE ponies, but I prefer the ones from the earlier set. I guess I'll go with the following (I can never just pick one!): Bright Eyes, Angel, Salty, Princess Tiffany, and Spunky the Camel!

My daughter was born in november 2010 right into the G4 generation. Her favorite is tied between Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash. 
She's been watching the tv series pretty much her whole life! Lol
That's my girl! 
And shes the one that got me into the G4s actually!
