Buttons pose issues
« on: December 23, 2015, 07:01:53 AM »
Is there a way to fix a toppling pony in Buttons pose? My Beach Ball's rear right leg is all smooshed and she can barely stand. I've read about pouring boiling water into a pony and letting it cool to fix this issue, but the tutorial showed a g3 and I wasn't sure if this method would work the same in this case. Are there any other ways to fix her? I've tried sticking a book between her legs and leaving it there for almost a week, but she popped right back to smooshleg.

Buttons pose ponies have this problem, even when I was a kid. My Fizzy doesn't stand well either, but now she can stand on her own as long as its a very flat surface.

Someone suggested that you can force an object between her legs to straighten them out, on the MLPrestoration project you can fill them with hot water and straighten them out too. G1s are softer and more pliable

Maybe I'll do the hot water and stick a book in there right after. How long would you suggest? A month?

That might do, I did the object thing for three weeks and I don't think my girl will ever stand properly, but yours might.

If your looking for any solution, prop her hoof up on a blindbag pony lying on its side.  They're just the right size, and make for a rather amusing picture.

LOL Now I want to see photos of this! I only collect G1, so no blindbag ponies hanging around, but this is a hilarious suggestion.

I use my hairdryer if the head still has factory seal and I don't want to break it, or if it's glued on from some prior mishap. I find the big felt tip pens work beautifully, and go between both set of legs on most poses, which prevents twisting, too.

I've fixed crooked legs before by dipping the outer side of the pony in boiling hot water and then after placing an appropriately sized object in between the legs to keep them in right position putting the pony in the fridge to cool down. :)

I've had success with other poses by putting a thick pen/pencil between the legs to widen the gap between them. It worked for Vanilla Treat and Tropical Breeze, but I haven't tried it on the Buttons pose. Some ponies do have faulty leg length, though, or got squashed somehow in packaging. My childhood Windy has one leg half a cm too short, so that might be part of why some stand and some don't.
