All green G3 Minty, the pony who wasn't quite

The very first online drawings of G3 Minty showed her as a green pony--with green hair!  I was looking through my brochures and I found one that showed her on the cover of a book (the one about the play) with green hair too.  By the time the book actually came out they had changed her to pink hair, though.

I actually think she looks nicer with pink hair. I'm not that big on monochrome ponies in general.

Pity Hasbro tends to chicken out with 'non-girly' colours.

So, originally, Minty was a Pinkie Pie expy, being green, green, and loving everything green? I'm kinda glad they changed it. Not saying it doesn't look bad on her, but I think it gives her a bit more depth for being slightly different, and the pink mane goes better with her cutie mark.

But thanks for this tid-bit of info, I'm so going to have her dye her mane green once I get to writing something with her.

I agree.  I do think it would be cool to do a custom rehair of her this way, but the combo of pink and green in one of my favorites so I really love the colors she was ultimately released with.

I actually had that G3 pony book! I agree that Minty looks better with pink hair. Too much green unless there were different variations of shade. I'm not too much into monochromatic ponies either  so I think the pink suits her!

I seem to remember the first publicity photos of G3 MLPs that I ever saw included a prototype Minty with green and white hair.  She was packaged with a G1 shooting star brush (which was also green!)  Surely that photograph must still be knocking around the internet somewhere?  There was a photo of a dark purple G3 with Toola Roola's cutie mark at the same time (also with a G1 brush in the packet with her).  Can't remember what name was written on the purple G3's box though.

She looks very nice in green, but I personally prefer the pink and white hair. She doesn't seem like herself without it.

Sorry, I don't remember seeing an in-box Minty prototype, but I did save a copy of this old promo picture of the 2003 Glitter ponies, including green-haired Minty.

The Toola Roola prototype was mocked up in a Kimono box. This is a color combo I wish they'd kept!
