I......Dunno....... Other than blankets and space heaters, I got nothing. Here we mostly worry about finding ways to keep cool....

Besides all the fluffy pajama bottoms, thermal long sleeve shirts, and fluffy slippers I wear, I have a kotatsu! It's a flat heating panel hooked up under a small table with a comforter on top, with a tabletop on it! It's SOOOOOOOOO cozy! I immediately fall asleep under it and I will put my adorable reptiles under it whenever our power gets knocked out by an annual ice storm- my apt isn't insulated well xD

Can't go wrong with tons and tons of blankets!!!! Layer yourselves with fleece blankets with comforters on top! Omg so cozy!!!

Kotatsus are amazing!! We experienced one in Japan. Why don't I own one yet??

*Don't forget to make sure you are taking steps to keep the COLD OUT. Windows can be "shrink-wrapped" for cheap, and draft dodgers placed along door bottoms. Open curtains during day to permit solar radiation; close at night. Even outlets can leak cold air indoors- we have foam outlet fillers behind our plates to keep out cold air. It pays to pay attention to the nooks and crannies. ;)

Thanks all! Off for 4th day in row off sick, and Letting Agent eventually managed to get an engineer to visit. And he's got to come back tomorrow! Apparently something very interesting (?) wrong with the combi boiler's diverter valve, the wires coming from the cartridge in the valve are broken and then all that trouble with the PLB? Or something. Which could also mess up the hot water, every time the metal cover is taken off, something or other pings out. I just nodded politely. The boiler is a cheap crummy one, as that's what couldn't care less landlords are like, and they tend to break down apparently, boilers, not landlords, but it'll cost him. Oh yes. But hopefully only one more night of being cold, and I may get heating back.

My heat wasn't turned on till Nov. 15th and some nights were already down in the low 30's. I bundled up in a hoodie, socks, and lots of blankets.

Oh my, definitely keeping you in my thoughts. I'd pile on all the hoodies in my closet!
And winter coat + mittens etc if I needed to. I'd rather look ridiculous than frozen in ice.

Ponyqueen, you can make one yourself under $60!

-Lack Table at Ikea is $25, use the bottom shelf it comes with for the top of the kotatsu but build the rest as instructed!
- Flat thermal leg wall panel (fireproof and has a US outlet) is about $44 on Amazon! Use industrial Velcro strips to attach it to  the underside of the table!
-a comforter of your choice! Maybe one you already have!

If you have ice packs, you can fill them with warm/hot water as another idea.

Some really good ideas, folks, including many I'm not allergic too! So basically if your heating breaks down, wrap up an alpaca, some small furry animals, some mittens, and a bathtub of hot water and an electric blanket in some bubble wrap, and place under a small table! Thanks!
An engineer came out at 9.30 this morning and mended the boiler! Hooray! So he left the heating on, and I went shopping in town. Came home to strange noises coming from the boiler, the pressure gauge was nearly off the scale, and the thing was flashing weird numbers. So had to call British Gas and they sent a second guy buy 6pm, who seems to have finally fixed it! But watch this space folks, I may be asking for a lifetime's supply of bubble wrap, enough to cover a small 3 bedroom house!

A clean bead full of blankets and some tea whit honey and lemon!  ;)

Also is good idea do something that help you have your body in movement, like playing some game like Just Dance or Wii Sports! Even if you are in the sofa playing it, at last  the upper half of your body is moving and that help!

An electric heated is also a very good idea! But if I can said, the ones that radiate the heat at better. I have on that eject hot air in my room somethings and I ended whit dry lips because of it.

If you have some pet like a dog, having them whit you in the bed is also a wonderfull idea! I always sleep whit my dog and he is like a little water bag that never lost it warmth (and he is a mini dachshund, imagine is the dog is bigger!)

Ben your stupid landlord wouldn't be so slow to respond if HIS house were freezing cold!!!  :(
Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.
