UV Hair suggestion for Sunshine Ponies?
« on: November 23, 2015, 06:12:03 AM »
Hey guys! I need a bit of help deciding on hair for one of the Sunshine Ponies.

Recently my brother told me he found some of my stuff in dad's workshop (because it doubles as storage) and we went digging to see if we could locate one of the stuffed animals I had been looking for. We found the one but upon further digging I happen to find a G1 pony that I don't even remember owning

I was happy to see that other than Dancing Butterflies, Cranberry Muffins, Chuck-e-Cheeze Pony, and BBE Gusty that I had another G1! And she is Shoreline none the less!

She's in pretty decent shape but other than a bath I need to replace her hair.

Normally I would just buy a color to replace color changing or fading hair... however I would actually like to replace her stripe with the proper color.

So I know that My Little Customs sells UV hair, however, it's white to another color and Sunshine Ponies have a non-white stripe that changes to another color.

Does anyone have a suggestion for UV hair for Shoreline?

My Shoreline (looks like she might have a hair cut too XD)

I *think* the color change still works if you dye it, it just changes the color it changes to too. Can anyone confirm this? If so, would that work?

You could also try Pilot thermal hair from Dollyhair, I have used it in two of my alt-rehair ponies

Here's light blue to purple

I did consider the Pilot hair but looking at the photos on My Little Wiki.. it looks like Shoreline's stripe goes from pink to purple and pilot only has dark pink to light pink and purple to pink (which would work in reverse from the original)... so I guess there is no true match for the Sunshine Ponies' stripes, huh?

My Little Customs sells UV colour change polypropylene :)

They all start out as white, I know polypropylene won't take dye.

Sapphire Light, how did you de-lash Princess Royal Pink?  I'm thinking of taking the lashes off mine.  :good:

Well I used long nose pliers to take them out from the inside of the head  ^.^ ,  but first I used boiling water to soften the glue and pulled the eyelashes while the head was still soft

The glue is very strong  so you will have to be careful to prevent damage in the pony, here are some pics of the process

I'm not sure what she exactly meant, but I guess it's in relation to the original G1 UV hair...

i agree, the G1 UV hair frizzles and gets dry like crazy, things that work in other types of hair like a hot iron, a pin comb and conditioner barely work a bit, is like the hair on old 80s/90s fakies

Pilot thermal hair however is even softer than normal saran , I don't have thermal saran so not sure in the texture

Ohhhh, I see what you guys mean now. :D When I think "nasty", I think "gross"...but I think you meant like frizzy or unruly.  Thanks for the info! :)

Well, for me pilot and saran works well, the Eyelash princess in my pictures has mint ice saran and polypropylene flirtatious (the shiny pink one)

The pilot is pink to pale pink
