How rare are the Dolly Mix ponies?  Are they hard to find and where were they available?

I -think- they were UK only? I bought a small lot of them and had to ship them from UK. Ironically when I decided they didnt fit into my collection, I sold them to someone back in the UK...

I live in the US and got all mine from members in the UK.  I think Clipper had some for sale awhile ago but I don't know if he has any left.

I have very recently nearly completed the set and I am a relatively new collector.  Granted it was with a big boost of ponies that I bought from members of the arena.  They are still available on eBay from time to time but can be overpriced.  I found that they were often listed as cake toppers/small pony figures by people who didn't know what they were but I have seen them listed as dolly mix ponies too.  Oh and I put a wanted post out for them  here in the wanted thread and the response was great with fair prices too.  Hope that helps you, I love mine I think they are just too cute  :)

you can probably expect to get them for an average of $4-6 each, some are more common then others, thanks to sellers from China.

I'm not sure where they are right now, but I think I have 3-4 duplicates. I believe there were a total of 28 or so with 7 being the G3 ones.

I was fortunate enough to donate some $$ to the UK Ponycon one year and won a complete set of the G1 issue!

There are 2 versions of Minty, Mainsail & Pinkie pie.... if my memory serves me correctly.

They were originally sold in UK, but you can find sellers from all over the place that has them at various prices. I got most of mine from the MLP Fair in 2014 as well as a few from a seller here on the Arena. The person who mentioned Clipper before is correct. He had a boat load he was selling on Facebook and I think he had move those to ebay after a while.. I don't remember.

Gypsy here on the Arena had some for sale for a while on her site, I bought quite a few from her.

Ooh, really?! :O I knew about Minty (IIRC she was originally released with a yellow tail instead of white, right?) but I didn't know about Mainsail and Pinkie having variations :o

As others have said they were UK only - released by a UK company (they do lots of dolly mix + toy items - they move from brand to brand). They were pretty easy to find up until a year or so ago and the company who made them were even willing to sell whole boxes over seas. They do pop up from some of the Chinese resellers  which has kept their price low. They were released in 2 waves - the first wave released twice (once by itself and then again with the second wave). The problem is that makes the wave 2 releases a little harder and a trifle more expensive - sometimes Gusty and Powder can go higher than average as well.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
