Hello from South Carolina!

Hey there! I'm retrogradenova! I also go by Nova or Christine. 
I live in South Carolina with my husband and vast number of pets.
I'm 29 year old writer/artist. I studied at SCAD as a sequential art major. I have a few writing projects I'm working on, but I've decided to try my hand at customizing.

When I was younger I had a large collection of over 50 G1s. I even had Paradise Estate and a few seaponies. My favorite ponies at the time had to be Barnacle and Sundance. Sadly I've recently found out that my cousins threw out my collection when their children were done playing with them. So I am restarting from the ground up. And I have a few designs I'm planning on trying to do as customs. 

If anyone has any advice on making customs I'd be happy to take it. I'm a super friendly person, I love to talk, learn new art techniques and such.

  it's sad hearing about your lost collection through your cousin but you get to experience it all again as you recollect.  I'm sure you won't have any trouble finding your two favourites to revive the collection either

I really put my old collection through the ringer as a kid, they would have been only good as bait ponies most likely. Especially after my cousins' children got their hands on them. Though I would like to try to get a few of my favorites back again. I'm really more interested in making my own customs now. I've gotten myself a few bait ponies off Ebay and am about to start cleaning them up to work on. Though I have a question about a So Soft Gusty I found in the ponies I bought, I'm not entirely sure where to post the question.

It sounds like you had a heap of G1 ponies growing up. I didn't even know big brother ponies existed until I started collecting as an adult (and then of course I fell in love and had to have them all, lol!). 

What did you want to know about the So Soft pony?  The Pony Corral is usually the place for general questions.

To answer your question Kiwimlp, I really wondering if my SS Gusty is worth restoring or not. I saw that the mlpwiki had it listed under recommended ones to restore. So I'm wondering how many people go by that list. Or if there is a reliable list on what's considered rare somewhere else. Just basic stuff like that. I'll make myself a proper thread on it in the pony corral.

I'm sorry to hear your cousins threw out your old collection, but the good thing is you can always get them back one day. Welcome to the Arena! Barnacle is one of the coolest looking Big Brothers, to me - I love his color combination, it's so vibrant! That, and I love nautical/marine-themed ponies in general.
