This is probably a dumb question
« on: September 24, 2015, 01:00:37 PM »
If I'm airbrushing a pony and I have no intention of rehairing do I still need to take the head off? I covered the hair with foil and masking tape but I haven't taken the head off yet.

No. I mean, you may get paint in the hair but head on or off, that would be the case. It may also be easier to keep the hair away from the body, but if you turn it around backwards that isn't usually a big problem either.

I have the hair in aluminum foil and tape so it stands up away from the body. The main thing I'm worried about is I want to give it a transparent color FBR so I'm wondering how I'm going to hold it so I can get underneath its belly and stuff.

I usually open the pony, take the tail off, the put the head back in place. Protect the hair as you have done. The with a chopstick, I insert it in the tail hole and use it as a handle to turn the pony around.

Using the hair is another option, but it doesn't give you so much freedom of movement.

If you still don't want to remove the head, try inserting the chopstick in the tail hole pushing the tail a bit to a side.

I hope this helps!
