What are Adventure Cards?
« on: September 18, 2015, 04:22:59 PM »
It's sad to admit, but I have no idea what Adventure Cards are.

Can anyone enlighten about what they are, where they were sold and who was featured on them?

Or please point me to a previous post cuz after a couple failed search queries, am flummoxed.

Thank you

They came packaged with some ponies and were meant to be used with MO Baby Blue Ribbon's "Adventures in Ponyland" game (though apparently the game could be played without the cards).

http://www.kimsites.net/dreamvalley/special_offers.html#blue_ribbon

There are US and UK versions.

The cards are hard to find now; I guess a lot of kids didn't know what to do with them back in the day and just threw them out.  Some collectors will pay a lot for them now.
Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.

I was going to ask about them myself!  I have 4, Bangles, Hippity Hop, TAF Dancing Butterflies, and Wingsong.  I bought from a local persons' childhood collection last spring, and I know next to nothing about them either?  Are some harder to find than others, or are they all about even? Are there obvious differences between the U.S. And UK versions?

We definitely  had a version of the game here, which I think was somehow associated with the club or comic. The graphics are the same including baby blue ribbon but relevantbpkayset names have been changed where necessary. We didn't have Baby Blue Ribbon here, though, nor as far as I am aware did any adventure cards come with ponies in the UK. I think there are some outline pony chsracter cards that float sround but although I have the game from childhood I have none of these.

I would love to know if anyone with the UK poster version of the game can confirm for sure if anything came with it. I have this feeling it might have been done in bits over comic releases but woukd love to know for sure.
I know I sometimes missed comic editions due to poor supply, so I would love to know for sure.

The US version of the poster had drawings of year 5 US ponies on the back.  Basically they were spread over the green fields of Ponyland (can't remember if the playsets were shown) and clustered together by group, with their names printed.  The back of the UK version was just white.  And yes, the US and UK front "game board" sides of the posters were a little different.

Yep, the UK one is literally just a large poster. I don't think it's as big as the Lullabye Nursery or (I assume, as I don't have it) the discovery of Paradise Estate foldouts, nor as substantial, so I don't think it was a separate release. I'm 3 and a half hours away from it right now, though, so I can't go and compare.

i was curious about the cards and the UK but rereading your post, KPF, I realise you meant versions of the game, rather than the cards. Forgive me, it's been a long day xD. We didn't have the cards here as far as I know.

No, the only cards we got over here were the ones that came on an A4 folded card (came with the actual board) - all just blue outlines and much smaller cards of course.

As for the Adventure Cards, as has been mentioned they were the cards for Baby Blue Ribbon's game. They were 2 cards in each pony they were released with. The ponies were all from Year 5 and thats when the cards were also released. It was a very limited release unfortunately - part of the reason they are so hard to find.

In total there are 42 cards featuring the below:
Sea Sparkle Babies
First Set Princess Ponies
First Set TAF Ponies
Second Set Flutter Ponies
Second Set Twinkle Eye Ponies
Second Set So Soft Ponies
FT Babies

And as my bank balance will tell you, they are super hard to find and its taken me over 10 years to track them all down :P

Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

cool!  I know my version of the game is the UK one, though I'm still not certain how it ended up over here.  At first, I thought it was a copy someone had made of the game, since the back was blank.

Since the cards are so hard to find, do things like spots or water damage effect their value a lot?

Damage does affect value but assuming its minor it will hardly dent it at all - they are so hard to find especially certain cards. The FT babies seem to show up the most often.

Wow, thank you KellyPonyFeathers, Taffeta and Hathorcat for the enlightening information.

Had no idea they were part of Blue Ribbon's game and had no clue there were 42 of them.

Don't even want to think about how much they go for.  :faint:

I had two cards, both of which came with SS Angel.  The cards I got with her were Locket and Bangles, I believe.
