Prices on good quality vs bad quality Greeks
« on: September 11, 2015, 01:43:08 PM »
I am new collector (with a soft spot for the ponies who have seen better days) and I am just desperate for a Greek nirvana.  Could someone give me a rough estimate of how much I should expect to pay for a Greek earth pony in relatively good condition (loose though) and then a what is a fair price for those in need of TLC ( e.g with haircuts, faded/ bleeding symbols, and marks etc).

Also if there are any members who live in Greece I am visiting Athens later this year and do so quite often to visit my husbands family there. I know the chances are more than likely slim to none but is there anywhere any members no of where I might have a chance of picking up a Greek pony in the wild, and have any of the Greek members ever done so (I was thinking along the lines of flea markets, like the old side of monestaraki)?

^.^ I would think $25-$100 depending on condition :) the Greek ponies are so lovely.

I would ask your husbands family where the flea markets are :) there are a few Greek members here, so hopefully they may be able to suggest places for you to visit. I do know the hardcore Greek collectors are out first thing looking for ponies ;)

You will find all generations of ponies in Greece ^.^ so keep your eyes peeled for them too.

Ooooohh thanks for answering, I was beginning to think I had posted in the wrong place/ asked such a ridiculously stupid question that nobody wanted to answer LOL.  100 views with one answer!  Thanks a lot that helps, plus I can maybe go about finding an unloved greek until I can afford a minty one  :)

I had a "well loved" Cotton Candy that I sold for $25. Took me awhile to find a home for her. Maybe keep an eye on ebay too. Sometimes you can find well loved CP Greeks for fairly inexpensive.
Good luck on your search :)

if you look out on ebay you can pick up tlc for dirty cheap, like $10 each. In fact there was a listing for 6 that weren't in that bad condition for a BIN of $50 :)

Lol those are what I bought...only at an offer of $36.   It was 2x peachy though and one bowtie I made a mistake before.  I am glad you say they were not too bad condition, I think they will be ok with a clean and a tidy up :)

No problem ^.^ the nirvana forum is slow moving compared to the corral. Sometimes it can take a little time for a reply as often research is required, especially when it comes to price checks ;)

Congratulations on winning that lot! I think you got a great deal ^.^ I saw that lot and thought it looked great for the price.

Not a silly question at all! (Sorry I didn't reply earlier). That sounds like a good deal for those ponies, even with their flaws :) At that kind of price, it's hard to go wrong ;)
