Do You Trade/Give Ponies To Family Members?

If you have family who collects with you, do you sometimes trade or give your ponies to each other? For example, when I first started collecting again during the G3 era, my first ponies were Rainbowdash, Star Dasher, Sparkleworks and Denim Blue. I gave them to my daughter when she was old enough to start playing with bigger toys, then she went through a phase where she didn't want ponies anymore so I ended up keeping most of her herd, including the ones I originally gave her from my collection, just in case she ever changed her mind.

When she wanted ponies again, I gave her most of the herd back except for a few. Star Dasher has gone back and forth between us several times, because; She Likes Her, She Likes Her Not.

In addition to Sparkleworks, she's also ended up with my Sweet Stuff, North Star and Lira Heartstrings and I have her Sweetiebelle, Firewater and Tropical Surprise.

Sometimes I trade, or buy g1 ponies for my little cousins, my youngest cousin is 4 and I gave him a (sort of junky xD) Majesty, and bought a Glory for my other cousin's 7th birthday but she traded her back to me for one of my g3 ponies she liked better i got my cousins interested in the old my little ponies just with my extreme obsession haha xD

My sister 'collects', she's mostly interested in G4 Shining Armor, she has an army of him! If I find G1's that I don't like the look of but don't have, or G1's that I already have, I clean them up as best as I can and give them to her. She has a shelf with some G1's and G4's. She doesn't collect G3's, so I get all of those :3 She's given a couple ponies to me, Sherbert and Brilliant Blossom, which was nice of her. We generally don't trade, but end up giving each other ponies then taking them back until we're happy with the end result.

I have been giving my nieces ponies for birthdays and Christmases if it was something they wished for.

My sister and I collected together as kids. She played with mine from a very early age, and got her first pony when she was 3. When we went carbooting, we divided up the list of ponies we knew about and therefore if we found a pony on my list I would get to buy her, and if it was on Naynie's, she'd get the pony. When we first discovered all the other ponies available, we extended our lists and picked out the ponies we wanted most. When we got new ponies, then, it was trading, so we'd buy the ponies at carboot and then trade them, sometimes for her and sometimes for me.

Naynie doesn't collect actively any more, but she still has some of her ponies in her room and won't get rid of them (if she did, I know she'd speak to me about them first xD). She has about 350 ponies of her own. I have several of the ponies she had on her list which I bought since she more or less stopped collecting, but some I haven't or don't want to. I also used to give her duplicates of ponies I had from ebay lots if she liked them, so she acquired a bunch of Brush & Grows and a few Italian and Dutch ponies that way.

My mother and father also have a few ponies, although they're only keeping a couple on their bookshelf. We gave Mum a Bushwoolie for Christmas one year because she thought them cute, and she still has that on her bookcase xD.

Yes I have given some to my daughter. Gotta keep the spark of collecting alive. Not that I need the help everyone collects something in my family.

My sister is the only person who even knows that I collect ponies, and I don't know if she'd even be interested. She does like MLP on some level, and I think she likes to look at my collection, but I don't know if she wants any ponies of her own. I have thought about getting her one as a gift, but I usually pass.

My niece is almost 3 and loves ponies, so I recently gave her the Ty plushies of Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash.  She also got Fluttershy and a glitter Rarity from me for Christmas. 

Last weekend, my sister and her family moved up to Oregon so we went to help and brought the Neice and nephew care packages.  Since my niece loves pink, I got her Pinkie.  She would not put the pony down.  .

But what really impressed me was when my almost 6 year old nephew, who is really into Transformers, was able to spout off all of the Mane 6 names correctly.  I was so proud!  .

When they were little, I gave my nieces some MIB G3s I had laying around. Now that they're a little older, I buy them the fancy EQG dolls that I like but can't justify getting for myself. I'll be sad when they outgrow toys and my G4-buying itches have to go unscratched.

I have made customs for my mom and my dad.
To my (ex bf's) niece I give ponies I have doubles of, or I buy some she wants. I also told her in case of my dying without children, she would inherit most of my collection.

My sister sort-of-collects MLP and Monster High, so every now and then I treat her with a new pony or a doll or two.
