« on: August 10, 2015, 09:48:32 AM »
Hi Peeps!

Do any of you guys know is this castle is a good size for G1 ponies? http://www.amazon.com/step-princess-palace-dollhouse-castle/dp/b003zhqdw4?tag=indifash06-20
I.E. can they fit though the doors and see over the balconies?

Hmm . . . I think it would be on the small side for G1s, just judging from the height of the figures that come with it.  Hard to say, though.

Here is someone's review

Great Toy! Very pretty!
By  Julie D. Macdougall   on September 6, 2011

We purchased this castle for my daughter for Christmas. She had asked for a castle for her My Little Ponies. I couldn't find any castles for full sized My Little Ponies (only the ponyville sized). This castle fit the My Little Ponies perfectly! It is wooden and looks beautiful in her bedroom. The castle can be played with from every side as there is no front or back. The openings are large enough for small hands to move figures around inside. The draw bridge works and there are lots of rooms and balconies. It is fairly durable ( we have had it for three years and it has not broken yet), but it doesn't move easily and is fairly large. Make sure you place it someplace where the kids can reach it to play with as it is not attached and only sits on the base and needs an adult to move it. The only issue we have had are the tops of the turrets sometimes come loose and topple off if the play gets very rough. This could be fixed with a bit of glue, but it has never bothered me enough to do so. Works well with ponies, disney princess figurines, littlest pet shop. A big hit Christmas morning and continues to be a popular toy in our house.

Given that it was posted 2011, I would say they are referring to G4s.

Same here.

You could always go for the show stable or dream castle on ebay. Seem to run between 45-70 bucks depending on how much comes with. Or even one of the G3 playsets

Hmm... It's hard to say, honestly.

The review there was posted in 2011, which would indicate they're talking about G4, but then, it also mentions that the reviewer has had the castle for three years. So it's possible they purchased it during the G3 era. Though the included figures do look pretty small, so I have no clue what to think.

Are you looking at one locally? I was thinking maybe you could bring a pony with you when you look at it.

If I were to guess, I'd say it's probably big enough but everything's going to be tight.  In other words, it might work for display purposes but not for actual play.

Dimensions would be helpful.  I didn't see any listed on Amazon.  Is the same castle listed anywhere else?

I honestly feel that G1's would be just a little too big for that castle.

That review was most likely talking about G3.5 or G4, which are smaller in comparison.

I would like it just for display purposes, like a pony stood in each doorway, if they fit
I think these are the dimensions- 29.5 x 27 x 20.5 "

Unfortuntately I would agree with this. There is no way to tell enough about scale and dimensions in those images to indicate whether that size would be accurate.

You can pick up the G3 castles at really good prices; I am sure if you try for one of those you will find one at a good price and they are much more suitable for G1 sized ponies.
