Any Furries (or Fursuiters) Here?

Hi there! I'm calling on all (if any) fursuiters here on the Arena.
I need MAJOR help with a Halloween costume, which involve a furry head, paws/hands, and tail and this will be my first time making anything furry related so I want it to be decent, hence why i'm calling out for help from y'all!

I need all the tips and tricks of the trade so give me advice, recommended materials and where to find them, and so on

I'm hoping to start on my costume ASAP, since I know it'll be time consuming not to mention i'm kinda freaking out/worrying about not finishing in time...

MAN are we in the same boat. I'm in the process of learning to make fursuits, specifically not G4 MLP ones,
and I'm struggling a lot. I have attempted a total of 3 heads now, and I don't understand how to make them round.

I wish to have one commissioned, but I came across a tumblr full of furry costume makers but most or either not taking commissions, the site's haven't been updated in AWHILE or they're resuming commission a tad too late for my taste... plus the price tag!

If I'm gonna be paying $500+ for a semi realistic head I wanna make sure its done to MY liking and I wanna make sure its done right. So I'm gonna use this site http://matrices.net/fursuiting.asp to help me out, especially with the head.

I'm just glad I'm doing a partial fur suit (head, hands/ paws and tail)

On youtube there are lots of great tutorials! Tsebresos is pretty good, she has tutorials for hand-paws and tails, as well as the feet too c: {https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB95AAF818B1FC3E8} Tails are the easiest part, heads probably the hardest.

With materials, you probably shouldn't skimp it, some of the fun fur you can buy at craft shops doesn't take well to shaving and falls out a lot. If you look online, you can find lots of websites to find fur, such as http://fursuitsupplies.com/
Patterned fur generally isn't a good idea either.

Commissions take quite a while, so you might not get it in time for Halloween


I don't know what other help you'd need, I've gathered a lot from my browsing over the years! I hope this helps! This website I find quite useful. I know it's UK based, but not all of the sites it links are, and they are all quite helpful anyway - EDIT- the website seems to have gone down recently! Sorry!

That's really cool c: I haven't seen many cheetahs.

You can also buy foam bases on etsy, something I've been planning on doing for my head

I can pm you in a bit and offer some help! For semi realistic you might be able to use a resin head base!

I have a big cat fursuit too! (Although she's packed up to move and needs a bit of refurbishing ) but she's very cartoony lol

I was going to suggest Matrice's tutorial so I'm glad to see that you already know about it! also make sure you're careful with what kind of foam you use, open cell i think is what a lot use because its about as breathable as foam can get. and sewing the seams gives a better look and a more durable hold.
