PC on G1 a very punk-y Red Roses ...
« on: August 04, 2015, 04:42:23 PM »
Hello!

I'm alive I swear... I'm also very, very out of the loop so I'll need a lot of PC help if I can't find things on the search function.

I've got a G1 Red Roses, she's 'perfect' to me: but she's really beaten up! I'm keeping her because she's adding to my army of 'Dusky accidentally ends up with a rare pony, but the pony is in awful condition'. I'd like to know her value since I just saw what the mint version is going for.

She has the following issues:
-Scuff above her NDS eye
-some ingrained dirt/grubbiness on her legs
-two stray red marks on her DS symbol - looks like pony makeup

And the biggest problem:
-her hair is now a 1" long floof of shorn fuzz. On the plus side it's still bright pink!

Looks like someone rescued her from a seriously matted hair problem, it may even have been done before she was listed in a lot on eBay as when I washed her with soap/water something that felt like conditioner was coming out of her hair.

What a sweetie. :D I'm not sure, but as prices have seemed to be a bit high lately I wouldn't be surprised if she could still be priced at a fair amount.

I wouldn't think she'd be worth more than like $10-$15 considering she's kind of unsalvageable to be restored very well.

I would think so... as long as there's at least a few people who would like to just have her in ANY condition and can't hope to afford one in good condition, I think it could easily go as high as $20.

No idea on price, but she does look like a bunny! She'd look cute with some bunny ears. :D

I probably have some of those in the G3 'random stuff' bucket... that or I'll make her some felt ones. :D

How is she unsalvageable for restoration? Restored ponies with replacement hair are done with new hair anyway (unless in very specific Nirvana cases), so she'd be getting a full replacement anyway. Is there no facsimile for the fluff?

No, there is no way currently to restore the factory look to her puffy hair.  You can replace it with different material (wool, alpaca, nylon yarn) but it will never look exactly the same.  In that sense, she can't be restored.

Aww, she's adorable! And her symbol is still looking pretty good! I was thinking about $20, as well. I know that cut hair is original, but someone might be interested in re-hairing her. Though, of course, I would say keep her in your collection -- she's cute the way she is, and you've still got a relatively rare pony there. :)

She has been a bit of an odd pony recently - normally I would have said Red Roses sits about the $65 mark when in lovely condition but one with super pink and pristine hair can tempt people higher. However for a few months she has been unable to hit anywhere near that...always much higher or much lower but I think thats an issue with pony pricing in general right now.

I think $65 for minty and $40ish for nice but nor perfect due to hair fading or body issues or matty hair. Therefore, althought this set is "all about the hair" in this condition she is perhaps the only way some people would be able to add a RR to their collection. So $20-22 would probably be fair and she may even do a little better depending on who is looking.

She is kinda cute in her punky way.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
