Fakie/McD pony identification - help requested
« on: July 14, 2015, 12:07:55 PM »
I found this little unicorn in a second hand shop, and I had to take her home, I just loved her facial expression, especially that smile. I plan to rehair and partially repaint her, and once done she'll probably become my desk companion at work (since I found her on the first day at my new workplace, after work).
does anyone know anything about her? she is about 9 cms tall (together with her horn), and is put together from two hollowish halves. her saddle is removable. there are no markings on her. it is not visible in the picture, but she also has a little pale pink in her hair.

isn't this little guy familiar to anyone? ^^
she might just be a random fakie (I see there are too many for it to be possible to keep track of them all), but for some reason she seemed familiar.

Afraid I don't know the name of the line, but I do have two others that are part of it. I have a pink one and a purple one, I think. I can get pics if you'd like.

They seem to be pretty common all around the world, I *think* they were originally in a set of 3 or 4 ponies from the cheap shops? I've also definitely seen them sold individually at Big W here for a dollar each as stocking fillers/party favours.

I think I've seen her sold in a set with two other fakies, a large one in the same style (with a winged saddle) and a small one similar to her but different colors.

Originally released in the time of G2, I think.  And then the mold was reused forever by the fakie companies, because why not. :)

thank you for the replies, everyone! :grouphug: it's nice to know something about her - and at the same time it's also nice to know she's not a rare species, it's just that I didn't happen to cross ways with a fakie like her by now. now I feel a little more confident about rehairing her, knowing I'm not destroying a rarer fakie.

billietallent, if taking pics isn't a bother for you I'd love to see your fakies! :)

many thanks for the link BrightLight! and wow, I was just about to say I don't think these fakies are sold here because I've never seen them - I guess I just didn't look around well enough then, haha ^^; that castle playset is kind of cute :)

I think I like mine the most so far - I really love that she's white. I'm going to rehair her into a monochrome pony ^^
now to gather the courage to somehow take her apart along the seams :|

I think it's very cool that she is the same color her legs are in almost the same position as your siggy! Maybe that's what attracted you to her :)

OMG, I haven't even noticed that yet! now that you mention it she really is in the same position, and that might be a valid reason for me liking her so much. I adore my siggy made by HollowZero, and she is also there for a cause: in remembrance of my mother. now for a second I considered changing my mind and rehairing her to look like Light Heart in my siggy instead of the originally planned monochrome pony, but that would mean having to chop her horn off, and I don't know if I'd like to do that. it's tempting though: the more I look at the little fakie, the more she makes me think if a G2 pony, and Light Heart is originally a G2. making a custom pony that reminds me of my mother and having her on my office desk is both a beautiful and a heartbreaking idea though, I'll have to think of whether I'd be ready for that.

Thank you for posting this! I'll be getting nearly the exact fakie from someone only no saddle and I don't see a horn. I could not tell if  the legs were like the G4 Pop Ponies but now I know :)

No bother, just had to dig them out of the fakie boxes! (Okay, well, first I had to remember which ones were the fakie boxes. The toy room's in the middle of an overhaul.  ^.^)

yay! thank you for the pic billietallent, they look cute! it's amazing how much difference a few colours mean, the rainbow colours of your fakies make them look totally different from mine - apart from those cute smiles. I adore their smiles ^^

I'm glad I could help sd_dreamcrystal! ^^ and uh oh! so it seems a no horn version of the white one also exists? well, that woud help me decide my customising plans, but that also means I'll have to be on the hunt for a no-horn white one
in case you'd be interested in the saddle to complete your fakie I could mail it to you. I like how the saddle looks but I don't plan to keep my fakie's yellow theme so I won't be using it.

I don't mean to be weird or anything, but your finding this pony on the day you started work, your plan to have it as a desk companion and the fact it looks like your siggy....maybe it's your mom showing you she'll always be there for you?
