Where do you get your doll clothes?
« on: July 14, 2015, 11:06:03 AM »
I just nabbed an excellent deal on an older Volks outfit for my Smart Doll and I am Soo psyched about it! I also bought a Totoro hoodie off Etsy for her that arrived today! Yay!
I am looking (for the first time) on actually purchasing an entire wardrobe for my Mirai. I plan on starting up a BJD and AG OOTD series on my youtube channel mostly featuring Mirai and my custom AG doll, Josie, and would like to start window shopping as I know this will be a fairly pricey investment in my collection. I have a couple of eBayer seller marked, and an Etsy seller or two but that's about it, really.

Where do you get your dollies clothes from?

Oh that sounds like a great idea! More video's to stalk on your youtube :P

I also buy my doll clothes from etsy and ebay. I've looked at some alternative vendors for clothing but I either find them too expensive, or I'm turned off by the lack of detailed photo's of the items. I'm interested in hearing where other members get their dolly clothes from :)

So far I've gotten mine off Yahoo!Japan auctions and Aliexpress. Ebay and Etsy are just too expensive for me.

I am tempted to start making some outfits as I can't seem to find anything that matches the style I'm thinking of.

I get most of my clothes from Etsy. There also a few places like nine9style that have really cute clothes.

It is a big investment but I have learned that you get what you pay for in dolly clothes. If you get something cheap it tends to fall apart at least from my own personal experience.

I usually buy my clothes on Etsy, but I just made my first successful doll outfit, so I may try to start sewing my own things sometimes.  But anything fancy, I always get on Etsy.  :)

I get most of mine from Etsy too...I buy a lot from guppykisses and MonstroDesigns (Warning: She takes FOREVER to ship).  Myrretah makes all of my big BJD clothes- my Soom Sabik and my Feeple Chloe. I've also bought lots from Wicked Stitchery.  His are more expensive, but the quality is amazing.  He does seasonal grab bags that I love to pick up.

I'll attempt to snag a Volks outfit occasionally (but it usually ends in failure), but for the most part I enjoy sewing my doll's clothing.

Stalking this thread. Would love to hear where everyone buys from!
So far I've bought clothing for my Blythe girls on Ebay and Etsy... I sometimes look for nicer bratz/barbie clothing and since I can't sew TwistedRiver will resize or modify them to fit for me. We also get fabric and sometimes bags of miscellaneous doll clothing from thriftstores since we can't really afford to spend a lot for one outfit. Hoping to get something nice for my Tangkou fairy doll though so I'll probably look on etsy for her.

kCherry - really wanna see her in that hoodie! :D

Yupyup, lots of resources I had never heard of!! I love this forum! LOL Thanks everyone for sharing!! :frolic: I'll definitely have to go and look up these sellers that you guys like. <3

So far I've gotten mine off Yahoo!Japan auctions and Aliexpress. Ebay and Etsy are just too expensive for me.

I am tempted to start making some outfits as I can't seem to find anything that matches the style I'm thinking of.

Do you read Japanese or use a translator for Yahoo.JP? I have issues with Google translate. (Although sometimes it's funny! LOL) And I know just what you mean, I have a hard time finding the styles that my dolls want, too. One day I'll sew for my dollies. One day! XD

If any of you crafty sewing gals would like me to feature your dolly clothes in a video send me a PM. All I ask is that you pay shipping to me and I'll cover the return shipping (unless one of my dolls has to have the outfit you've sent in which case I'll need your paypal address! XD )

I got the Totoro hoodie from Crystine Creations, https://www.etsy.com/shop/cyristinecreations

It's super nice. Here's my opening on youtube if anyone would like to see it,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMMjeoyN5oc

I have now invested a nice little chunk into Mirai's wardrobe. I think it's enough outfits to at least film a few OOTDs. And of course, this just means more pictures, too. :D

Ya'll keep the good information coming, please!!

I love Chrystine Creations! I have a really hard time buying BJD clothes because I just can't justify spending more on clothes for a doll than I spend on myself! So most of my girls have one main outfit and that's it. My Pukifee has a few more because she's pretty easy to make clothes for.

I find my DD clothes (which would also fit Smart Dolls I assume) from Etsy, Mandarake (a good source for cheap Volks outfits), Doll Heart has a line of DD sized outfit sets that are super nice, and I just put in an order with Tata's Paradise which is pretty cheap for DD clothes, and decent quality. Coolcat also has some good inexpensive basic things as well as some fancy limited lingerie sets if that's what you like on your girl.

OMG that shrine maiden set is awesome! I want one for my mini Dollfie Dream, but as I have yet to get her body it's really putting the cart before the horse to start buying clothes for her :)

ETA: Keely's Cute Kimono has awesomely cute clothes that are really well made: https://www.etsy.com/shop/keelyvh?ref=l2-shopheader-name

And I just found this seller that has some lovely things, but I haven't ordered from her so I don't know anything about the quality:

kCherry, I use a translator which is really funny at times but I can usually work out what they're saying even with the odd twist of words. I sometimes think that Google Translate needs to be a language in its self. :)

At the moment I'm very broke after buying 3 dolls in very short time frame (2 months) but once I have a bit more money I'm off to the fabric store to see if I can get/find some nice printed fabric and some hot pink sparkle tulle for clothes.

Used to get a few outifts from Venecja on etsy, but she doesn't make for my size dolls that much anymore and when she does it's usually not to my taste. She's focusing more on Lilycat and Soom dolls right now with a few yosd things. I am waiting with bated breath for something wonderful to come out again (not that what she makes is no longer wonderful, of course).

Dollygoround has some cute outfits for smaller dolls.
I really like Harajuku Dolls' styles but I did buy one outfit from her but it's falling apart :/
I bought a yosd corset from Nollufo and love it!

These are all from etsy! There are a few other sellers I have bought from but can't remember them right now. I have also bought some outfits at doll cons. One from Dearmine and one from a very nice lady who knows almost nothing about dolls but did it because her daughter asked her to and come to the con to sell!
