1st Time Coloring Lineart
« on: July 10, 2015, 10:58:12 AM »
It's a pretty slow day at work and I don't have much going on, so I decided to try coloring in some lineart just for fun. I used Corel Photo Paint X6. Holy wow, I definitely need some practicing.

I'm aware of the large empty space around her. I didn't bother to crop her before saving lol. I even forgot the color in her eye, oops, lol. I used the magic wand mask tool to add the color. Is that correct? It wasn't the easiest thing to work with. And my pony's hair is...weird looking and not all totally filled in.  :P

Very nice! Your character has such pretty colours and a cute symbol. :)

I am not familiar with Corel myself so I'm not sure how it works, but usually the easiest way to go about colouring digitally is to create a separate layer for the colours. You can do it by duplicating the lineart layer, that way you can use the lasso or some other helpful tool, then fill in the rest by hand around the linework. It doesn't matter if you go over the lines as you'll still have the original lineart layer on top that will cover the messy bits. At least this is how I do it, though usually I start with a blank layer and colour everything by hand...
