Great research! It's a good thing to know @Goodie barrettes. That should be updated in the MLWiki one day (am not unlocked to do that myself atm). ^_^

The set was released with alternative barette colours - I have seen them MIP myself but unfortunately never able to actually own them. Was the set you own purchased in Germany? That is where this release was found. Its the same idea as the minor variations in the Dream Castle and Lullabye Nursery - who knows why but minor. But the ribbon colours remained the same - the purple and orange pictured here.
