what countries got playtime baby ponies vs fancy pants ponies?

Hey everypony, I have a US/Canada/Europe pony distribution question for you.

I recently got a nice set of photos donated to the wiki of an entire box of "Playtime Baby Ponies."

There were two of each of these 6 in the box:
-Baby Starburst
-Baby Glider
-Baby Splashes
-Baby Dots 'n Hearts
-Baby Drummer
-Baby Paws

The scrap book already has this basic division for US vs UK, but... what about everywhere else?

So, now I'm curious, which places got Fancy Pants + Playtime Baby brothers and which got only got a few of both as "Playtime Baby Ponies"?
Here is my best guess after a brief google search:


UK/Dutch+French/French: Playtime (only those 6, missing the rest of the brothers and the fancy pants)

US/French Canada/Italy: Playtime Brothers + Fancy Pants

Elsewhere in Europe: None?

How does that distribution sounds to people?? I want to see your MIP if you got em

Canada definitely got all the Playtime Baby Brothers (I remember picking out Waddles from the store, and spending quite a bit of time looking at the other five.) Based on what I've picked up over the years second-hand, we also got the full range of Fancy Pants, they appear equally often to each other.

I have licensing paperwork for this year but its not to hand. If memory serves, it was a clear North America/Europe divide on this set. By this time we were getting distinct Euro style releases on some lines. They were available to retailers across most countries which carried MLP in Europe (whether they were picked up is a whole other story of course).

NZ and Aus are the exception to the rule as they got both complete sets of brothers and FPs.

I was thinking along the same lines as Cat - the box style was one that was used for a number of other sets across Europe as well.

If it helps, though the Scrapbook is a UK info site, at least 2 of my mib playtime babies have Italian boxes and these are pictured on the individual pony pages.

So Italy for definite. I have also seen them in German boxes. I think this was cross western Europe, but there are some sets which were released in places in Europe in 2 ways. The same is true for the UK sometimes with US imports, but there are sone sets for which German, French, Dutch language packaging exist for both traditional european and US style packages. I don't know if this is one of thise sets but since there are box colour variations for the Candy Cane ponies which came out at the same time, it isn't impossible.

What I do know for sure is the 2 full sets were sold in US and Canada.

MLP wiki could also do with changing it's confusing opening statement about UK and European issue for this set as though they're different - in this case, they're not The four girls in the set over here are the same as the European ones, made in China (although the pony comic illustrates Starburst without her yellow forelock and Splashes with purple hair)

You are right Taffeta, the wiki is definitely confusing on this topic, which is why I reached out. I'm out of town, so I may not get to it soon. But if anyone is interested anyone can edit the wiki! (I just have to manually set up people's accounts to start with.)

I confirm that in France we had 6 playtime babies

Add Spain to the list of countries with Playtime Babies. I've seen them in Spanish box now too.

Denmark had the Playtime Baby Ponies. I remember seeing them in the stores.
