Takara Ponies?
« on: June 25, 2015, 09:34:49 AM »
Hi all! I have a question: Can somebody explain Takaras to me? I know that they're from basically Japan MLPs, but that's where my knowledge ends. I've gleamed enough to know that this question belongs in the Nirvana thread, though. I'd also like to see any pictures if you've got them.  :D
I'm always looking for a Blythe accessories. PM me for any info!cloud_weaver is the best sister ever!!!

Check out the MLP Wikia page on them - that should give you a good backgrounder.

There are also quite a few pages and topics here at the arena.

Just search for Takara Pony in the search bar and tons come up :)

They're basically Japanese versions of My Little Pony. I believe Hasbro licensed them in Japan for 1 year only (1985?) and they're super hard to find right now. They do sell on eBay occasionally but they go for insane prices (3,000-4,000 I think). Those are for the adults. They also made some babies but I think there are only 6 known to exist (of which there are 2 types)? For the adults, there are 6 ponies I think- Milky, Pinky, Sara-Sara, Fuwa-Fuwa, and 2 others of which I don't know their names but they're blue and green :) For the babies, I think one is called Popo and I'm not sure about the other.

This is pretty much all I know about them after researching and reading the arena for quite some time hahaha.

Hope this helps :) :lovey:

I'm losing count of the babies.
I can think of 10 (?). 2 went missing a long time ago...

I'm not sure how many babies there are, but maybe there were just sold privately and haven't been spoken for since.
There were the Lili and Popo but in two different playsets. (Carriage and Bath)

There was also the Kawaii Baby Poseable ponies, but I don't think those have been found.

2 I have (with tub)
2 that were sold here (with tub), don't know owner
1 found in Japan 2ndhand store , owned in UK
1 just sold on eBay
2 just sold in Japan (with tub)
2 lost. Was owned by a member here. Was told they were fake he sold them. (A *long* time ago). Whoever bought then thought they were fakes, isn't active, so I feel like they are missing outside the community. They certainly haven't surfaced.

:) and then anything else that goes on behind the scenes.

And no, no poseable ones (yet)

I only said something because it was stated "6known to exist", and that eBay one said" 5"... So I thought I'd bring the count up.

According to the backstory, they are the little sisters of Pinky and Milky, and also twins. Don't remember if it was said whether Pinky and Milky are twins as well, but we can assume they are sisters in any case. :)

The Takara 1985 catalog shows a lot of items that I believe were never released, and some items that were released look very different from what was shown in this catalog.

These pamphlets/booklets that came packaged with the ponies are a better indication of what was actually released, even if it's not 100% complete (for example, the Omekashi House is not shown in these).
