Giving Neglected Ponies the Attention They Deserve!

Ever since I got my dream of having a toy room (albeit a tiny one) I thought it would be so much easier to give my ponies the attention they deserve. Hardy har har. What ended up happening is that the ponies filled up every square inch of shelf space and I rarely if ever take them down.

So...after spending the last few weekends reorganizing the toy room, I've decided that every night I'm going to take a few ponies down from the shelf for "bonding" time and a light inspection...see who needs hair help or cleaning up, etc.

Last night the theme was white pegasi, and tonight it is atypical families (pony families that are divorced, same sex couples, etc). The goal is to go through the entire herd at least once or twice a year, making sure everyone gets their chance off the shelf. With over 500 ponies (including customs) this will take some time! I'd also like to do the same with my LPS, FSF, and MH. This may prove challenging, buttttt it is good because it helps me to stop wanting more and to appreciate what I already have!

Does anyone else do this?

It would be healthy to re-experience how excited we were when we first got them!

Aww, what a cool idea! I don't remember -- do you have an Instagram account? You could take them down and take group photos.

I like to do the same thing when/if I get a pony room someday. Until then everyone is hanging tight in their containers. :/

My collection is small as it is, but I like to take two or three out and give them special attention and rotate who comes out. I did that two years ago for both newly acquired Ponies and my childhood herd. I should do it some more. It really does re-blossom appreciation for what's already there!

My ponies have been neglected for a long time too. While my herd is on the smaller side to start a pony of the day session, I should start dedicating a pony to sit on my desk with me and rotate them out every week or so.

Some ponies need more love! I do something similar where I select a few ponies to keep around my desk so I can enjoy them. After a few days or weeks I return them to their shelves and swap them for different ponies!

I'll be getting my very own pony room at the end of this month, whenever my fiance and I finally move into our house.  I've been wondering how I'll take care of my ponies (and Pokemon, and anime figures, and stuffed animals) after I organize everything.  I love the idea of taking them down, a few at a time, and giving them attention.

Really great idea! If I had room to put them all on shelves I would, then pick some each month to check over and display for a while somewhere where I can see them better... might catch things like dye transfer, tail rust, plasticizer leaching etc early as well

If only I had the time to visit with my ponies every day... Alas, I do not.
Usually about once every 3 months I re-arrange a little bit.

I did recently for about 4 days before I was banned....LOL.

However, I am active on flickr. I have some older pony photos uploaded there, but I really should take more!
