Wavedancer and Wavebreaker
« on: June 05, 2015, 01:34:52 PM »
Hi :D
I have a tiny dilemma with these two. I recently bought one at UK eBay, and the auction title said Wavedancer, but the seller didn't look like an MLP collector. Since she was bought from the UK from a non mlp-collector should I them presume it is Wavebreaker? I don't know which one to remove from my want list. I guess it shouldn't really matter since they are suppose to be exactly the same, but I can't help it wonder :P

It's going to be Wavebreaker, we did not get Wavedancer in the UK. The seller probably ID'd it online.

Of course, it could be Wavedancer, but unlikely.

Is there any way to tell them apart at all? I found one here where we got both US and UK ponies, so majorly confused down here!

The head position tells them apart I think.

From My Little Wiki
Quote
Wavebreaker is identical to the US Sea Pony, Wavedancer, the only difference being her name and accessory colours.
So unless the pony came with the accessories it's hard to say

It sounds like you need to get the accessories for one or the other to determine which one she is. ;)

I am pretty sure they are the same basic pony. To me this usn't a case of 2 separate ponies but the same pony with a US name and a UK name. They have different accessories because the purpke shell sold with the pony in the US belongs to a different pony in the UK set. It is like comparing Princess Pearl and Princess Tiffany as separate ponies because they have different names and accessories between countries.

I have had Wavebreaker from both here in the UK and in lots from the US and I didn't see a difference when comparing them.

Head position variations apply only to pearly baby sea ponies.

If both US and UK ponies were sold where you are, Stormness, probably the answer to your question is which other adult Sea ponies do you find in your area? If it is Seaspray and Surfdancer then she will probably have been issued as Wavebreaker and if it is Sealight and Seawinkle then she was probably sold as Wavedancer.

The yellow shell was also only in the UK set, and only with Wavebreaker. She also had a pink brush and comb, but I don't know her ribbon.

Taffeta's Princess Tiffany/Princess Pearl comparison is the best one. She is the same pony just released in different countries under different names and with different accessories.

Its certainly not 100% proof but if you are buying from a childhood collection from someone in the UK, then the odds are good the pony was originally released in the UK and under the name Wavebreaker. But she is essentially the same pony who hit shelves elsewhere as Wavedancer.

Thanks for the help everyone :D I am pretty sure it would be a Wavebreaker and I do already have her yellow shell that I bought ages ago. So I guess thats the name I am taking off my want list ^^
