Dream Beauty's?
« on: May 30, 2015, 03:35:42 PM »
I see that Dream Beauty horses are associated with the mlp line, but why? They are also pricey. I own about 7 or 8 of them (mostly scored from lots) and have grown to love them and search out for the others. I know the trim and grow horses can be expensive due to finding them in good condition being hard. What info can be shared about them? Were they popular?

Like Lil' Litters, Dream Beauties were a separate line that kind of went 'with' My Little Ponies.  They have similar styles to ponies, such as the eyes and symbols, and to me, they're the "grown up" version of MLP.  They're actually pretty HTF and can get somewhat expensive.

Ghost of a Doll has some good info on them:

Yep, they're My Little Pony. As you can see in pictures of MIB Dream Beauties, it says MLP very boldly on the box.

I think they're supposed to be more horse-like and less pony-like, thus the different title. They're also very similar to some other horse toy lines that were popular, like Fashion Star Fillies (and, of course, Barbie's horses). I just think of them as yet another imaginative line in the MLP toy series.

I love Dream Beauties, if they weren't so expensive I would love to add Crystalline, all three Rainbow Beauties, Color Glow and Fair Flyer to my herd.  :inlove:

I think Dream Beauties are ever so pretty, though somewhat hard to come by. I've only got two, Songrider (childhood pony) and Fairflyer (car boot sale find). As a matter of fact, the seller at the cat boot sale found her for me in a box under her table, saying "I'm not sure if this is the same kind [as the G1 I was already holding in my hand], but maybe you'll like it even so". And I did!

As others have said, they are techincally part of the line. They were Hasbro's attempt to keep those little girls who were growing out of the regular line still interested with a more adult style of toy. By branding it up with MLP, they try and install a little brand loyalty.

I love Dream Beauties and finally completed my collection early last year!  Now to just find all those dang barrettes...

I remember way back when I first started collecting with Aadra, I spotted one at a flea market and bought it, not knowing what it was, because she had MLP eyes!

The only childhood pony Is till have is my Dream Beauty Wind Walker. I actually kept her because I wanted horse toys that looked more like "real" horses. Eheh. Oops. >_>

But, yes, I think they were meant to entice pre-teens or older grade school kids to stick with the line a bit longer. I want to say I read somewhere that they were what happened when the ponies "grew up"? Hard to say. Hasbro wasn't exactly consistent (or logical) with the MLP canon.

Crystaline is pretty rare, this one was mine a few years back. She is the rarest in the set of clear glitter ponies.

Past that the DB I don't really know anymore about them than what others shared. I thought you might like to see a photo just for fun. I belive I saw this one up on ebay just the other day.
