Anyone seen the new Jem & The Holograms movie trailer?

I finally worked up my courage to watched the trailer and now I desperatly wish I never had. They are destroying one of the best shows of the 80's and there is no chance in **** I'll ever watch that abomination.

Uuuuuugh. I finally just watched the trailer. I've been putting it off, but I decided it was time.

We already have Hannah Montana. Why do we "need" this? The only thing that even resembles the original show, as far as I can tell, is the pink makeup. That's it. Oh, and the stolen title.

The only thing that qualifies as Jem is the name IMO. Other than that it doesn't look anything remotely like the original expect it involves females in a band.

The original story and plot are pretty darn solid I cannot understand why it would be changed into whatever that trailer is supposed to be.

It doesn't even look like a very good teenage movie either, it just sort of looks blaa.

Not going to watch it.  I refuse.  Unless it's free from the library.  The trailer anyway doesn't have anything to do with jem and the holograms cartoon.  It looks like you could change their names and it isn't jem related at all.  Saying showtime synergy doesn't make her jem.  Plus I heard synergy wasn't in the movie?

Amen! When they first announced they were doing the movie they talked about how much they loved the show and they were going to take fan suggestions. I think they were full of bologna

They straight up lied to the fans.  About everything.   One evil thing is that they made fans believe they were crowd sourcing so millions of people sent in audition tapes-  but that was just a publicity stunt.  Everyone on the movie is a professional actor or actress- even the ones that appear on the segment showing the "audition tapes."

I think the worst thing though is how little this resembles anything that should be called Jem.

I had heard that some ppl who sent in audition tapes did get cast as extras at least. Of course it's shady that they made it seem like they were looking for someone for the main roles and not a part of the faceless crowds.

Yeah- I don't care that they DID use actors and actresses- I think it was a good idea.  But don't lie and say you are going to 100% crowdsource the movie when you have no intention of doing so.  Shady.

I just looked at it out of curiosity and I can't stand it.  Jem was about 80's rock and Jem was much older I believe in the series and now we're down to preteen early teens.  I realize they're trying to make a new Jem for kids nowadays but it is a complete turn around, and not in a good way.  If they wanted to do live-action they should have done it in the 80's or maybe even 90's.

I really wish they would have gone with a battle of the bands plot even though it's such a common trope. Just take the first 5-ish episodes of Jem, trim it down, and turn that into the movie. Then you would have the Misfits (and hey, you could throw in the Stingers while you're at it) and you could still easily tell the origin of Jem and Synergy while staying true to the show. Basically it would come down to Jerrica, Shana, Aja, and Kimber creating a band with the help of Synergy to earn money for the Starlight Girls and they have to win the battle of the bands to do so. Throw in some Misfits sabotage and other stuff and end the movie with Jem and the Holograms winning the battle of the bands and all's right with the world.

Blech the trailer is really awful and trashes some of my best childhood memories of Jem.  Still I love the actress Aubrey Peeples who stars as Jem.  It's a shame it didn't stay true to the original.
