small paint details
« on: April 24, 2015, 01:22:36 PM »
I know I'm not the best with a paintbrush but I pretty much screwed up this custom I was going to make so bad LOL

even the eyes are really.....not good  :yikes:

is there like a paint pen I could use to get those minor details I want without messing up my paintjob? :yikes:

Toothpicks! Really good for getting into those teeny tiny details and you won't have to spend a fortune on them.

I've never tried paint pens, but I know some people do use them. I found that investing a few pounds in a fine detail brush made a lot of difference. :)

Both great suggestions! I use a fine detail brush, myself.

Aww  That's a really good idea, but it will eventually bleed into the pony's plastic. Remember that for the future. I'm sure she looks great though! :) Do you have pics?

also a tip, when you use red paint it will bleed like mad..  I have a pony with red paint on her and she's about 8 years old now.  The red has bled about 2 inches from the original spot.  What I learned is to put a color down BEFORE you paint it red.

And yes sharpies will bleed and feather.  Try using micron pigma pens.  I use that with the eyelash detail.
Looking for Mountain Boys Thundercloud and Sunburst.  ANY condition at all wanted!

I use a fine brush now, but toothpicks were my go-to for a long while, and I still use them for some things.
I've used gel pens, but they smear super easy (like they never dry until sealed) - I had to use a spray sealer and then a paint sealer to keep them safe
