Why is G4 Diamond Rose selling for a 100-200$ on ebay?

I got a Diamond Rose at the flea market today. I'd never heard of her so I looked her up online, and MIB her normal version (non-glimmer wing) is going for A LOT.
Mine is not MIB, but she is the same version that seems to be going for so much.
Have I got a good find?

I've never noticed any G4 going for this much...I wonder if it's just a seller thinking they have something really valuable just because it's MIB and not one of the Mane 6? Interesting...

Yeah, I tried looking her up on other sites but I can't find anything about it. I would think it's a mistake too, but several sellers have her in that price range and her glimmer wing version is only going for like 15$ MIB.
I'm baffled!!

A couple loose have sold for around $34, and MIB for $60 (which is still really high imo) but I don't think any have actually sold for that price. Maybe the sellers are dreaming?

I sold my extra MIB one for $43 in February on ebay which I thought was a crazy high amount!  I noticed the high prices from other sellers too.  I think they are just hoping someone will buy them at that price.

What the? The non-Glimmer Wings version of G4 Diamond Rose can't be that rare enough to be priced that high on eBay. Must be the seller had wishful thinking they could sell a MIB one for that much or the seller must think that she's highly-sought after or something along those lines.

Wow, I just did a search and holy cow there's a bunch listed in the $175-$200 range and even one listed at close to $300!!! That's crazy!
I should list mine for a steal at $100

Its likely the seller is aware that this pony is of a release that was no longer in the shops and is probably thinking they can cash in on this. Fortunately, I highly doubt anyone would buy at that price. Parents won't spend that much in one pony for their kids and collectors won't touch this because its way over the actual value.

If you were selling one, and checked the ebay prices and saw those high prices auctions, there's a good chance you'd also list yours at a high price - B/c if that's what others are asking, then that's what she must be worth!

Economics in Ponyland.  Pretty interesting stuff if you watch prices. 

Is she actually worth that?  Only if others have sold for that, and more are willing to pay that.

Just because she is listed at that doesnt mean she is going to sell at that price. Outrageously priced ponies of all generations are pretty common on ebay. Its a sellers market after all - you can charge what you like and simply wait for someone who is desperate or who doesnt know to come along. It happens in all collectables unfortunately. And someone has paid $170+ for one recently so the gamble did pay off for one seller.

Dont check ebay live BINs for a fair price. Check ebay ended BINs and auctions - that will tell you what people are willing to pay.

As for going rate - she is pricey and she is popular but MIB she has soared quite a bit. I would expect the $45-50 mark for her right now. However dont expect her to sit at that forever. Most G4s have done this - a surge in popularity, the peak and then they drop back down to a more reasonable range. Give it a few more years and most will bottom out even further.

I don't know what it is, but pony eBay items can be super over priced. The mini apple family figures can go for $50+ ...nuhuh.
