I guess it's because some kids probably didn't like that one random hair piece being "out of place" so they cut it. Also it's a well-known fact that children like to cut things in general. The first thing my sister did when she took my G3 Goody Gumdrop "just to play with for a few minutes" was chopping her mane and tail off :D

I guess some kids think the hair is getting in the pony's eyes and want them to be able to see better?

I dunno, I always liked the forelocks as a kid.

I've never understood these either. The rest of the mane left intact but the forelock cut.....makes no sense. I wasn't scissors happy with a kid except with my stuffed animals, lol.

This reminds me of my beach ball who now has a permanent moehawk thanks to one of my siblings when they were very young. I sill love the pony, and kinda think they look better that way.
