Hi ponies,
I have been busy with my sewing machine lately
Firstly Giant Takara, made using Rhini's pattern! This pony was a combination of a few things I wanted to try. Firstly I wanted to see how the Takara pattern turned out if you enlarged it. I increased the size of the pattern by 50%. She stands at 10 inches tall compared to the regular 5 inches tall. The other thing I was trying out was using velvet instead of Minky. While Minky is lovely and comes in a variety of colours and textures, it is not shiny
and I have been hunting for quite sometime for some plush glittery fabric. Well I found a bundle of it at the fabric shop I go to and I decided to use this purple for the 50% Larger Takara. I'd say the only thing I'm not happy about if the floppy wings, I should have either stuffed them or added interfacing to stiffen them.
She is kind of Twinkler like

I made my first Seapony last September and there were a few little things I wasn't happy with, but I have straightened them out I think

I picked her as I knew she would be a bit of a challenge, but also it would allow me to try out some new things. She has to be my most detailed plush to date and I am delighted with how she turned out.
Her body and head were made using ValleyViolets pattern. I made the mane, tail and wing patterns myself. I have not done a striped mane or tail before, so that was something new for me to work on. I didn't want her to have regular Pegasus wings, I wanted her to have the shiny blue wings like the G3 figure. Her wings were made using felt, overlaid with a shiny organza and machine embroidered (I don't have an embroidery machine, so I used the free machine technique). I discovered that I needed to add some wire into her wings to give them support or over time they would start to droop (so sad!) I machine appliqued her eyes and the symbols heart and hoof heart. The swirls and other details are all hand embroidered. I also added tiny star sequins to make her more shiny and to represent the glitter which is on the G3 figure.
