how do you decide?

I have so many wants and have no idea where to start! (good thing my G4 collection is mostly complete) I look threw all the ponies and I'm ooo I want that and that and that but there is no way I can afford them all! how do you you pick who to get first?

i'd suggest just looking through your list, picking out the ones you really really want, and then going out and looking for them! for me personally, i just look through my whoooole wishlist form time to time and see if i can get a deal on any

G4s I don't have a problem with (I'm in the same boat as you, there) but with G1s I decided to go with my absolute favorites first.  For me, that was both sets of Rainbow Ponies and Night Glider.  After that, I just look for any good deals on other ponies on my list.

For me, it was easy.  I just started with replacement ponies for the ones from childhood.  After that list, I have another which consists of one or two ponies I super want from each set I like.  Figure I will work from there.

Since I've been loving MLP for a long time but haven't been able to get almost anything that I ever wanted, the top of my wishlist consists of ponies that I've been eyeing for years (like G3 Minty, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, etc.) Next of course would be my childhood ponies that unfortunately got lost. And once I get all the G3s I want (G3 is my main priority in general), I'll be looking in some G1s that I like. Another thing that I like is good prices. If I'll see a G1 pony that I really like and that is considerably cheap, I'll snag it. Decisions are pretty easy for me, even though my collection is really tiny.

Focusing on a top 20 Yes you will have a long list of wants but I used to create a "top 20" list and focus on finding them. As and when I found one I would replace it in the top 20 with another pony from the general wish list. The exception to the rule would be if I wanted to save on shipping and was buying multiple ponies from someone
