My First Pony Plushie

There isn't much work at my internship right now. So sometimes they start working on different things to do at the office. They have a room full with fabric and sewing supplies, and sometimes when I'm "done" with my project (have to take a break sometimes because I need to await feedback and all) I'm allowed to work in the sewing room. I always had a heart for plushie making but I didn't knew how to use a sewing machine...  So first I made a horse with some colorfull fabric and manes made of yarn. Then I made a small simple bat (whose eyes are falling out XD Need to sew them better)

So since last week I started working on a MLP Plush with this pattern: https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/t31.0-8/11041889_1060573793958484_415584584688527084_o.jpg I decided to make the mascot of our Website MLPMerch. I think she turned out pretty good! I noticed however she needs to be stuffed more at the neck and I have still some problems with sewing the opening shut. The manes were all designed and drawn by me and I'm really happy with the result! The Ponytail (her hair on her head) Is sewn a bit different because my boss kept asking herself how to shut it so she came with this weird technique. Anyways, while working on my project alone at the office I suddenly got an Eureka moment how to do this actually on the sewing machine. The result is her tail and next time I will use it for her ponytail as well! I also still have problems with sewing the manes and wings on. I keep making a mess. I tried to sew one the nose and mouth as well. The eyes are made from some transfer paper you need to iron on your fabric. Because she was already stuffed and sewn together I ironed it on a new piece of fabric. My boss suggested sewing the eyes and Cutie Mark on but I had some problems with hand sewing. So I glued them on...

Anyways I'm right now making a new one for my BF as well. And I'm also planning to make the Cleopatra Sassaflash and Flim & Flam. Hope to learn more when I make them! What do you think of her? Do you have any tips or advice you're willing to give me? My mom got a new sewing machine at home this weekend so I can also work on my plushies at home! (if I have ANY time XD)

I think you did a great job on your first plush! I can't really offer tips, because I haven't made any myself, but I hope you continue to learn more and improve as you work on your second plush. ♥

That's very good for your first plush!  :)  My only advice is just to keep at it.  You get better and better the more you work at something!

She is great for your first plush :) as Skeen has said you improve with each plush you make, so keep at it.

That is wonderful for a first plushie, holy cow!

And seriously, how awesome is your work for having a sewing room for downtime?! The Netherlands is just freaking awesome. (My MIL made me stroopwafel for my birthday last week...I tell DH I married into his Dutch family for the food!)

She looks really good!  I just finished my first one too.  I really like that you designed your own hair, it fits her really well.  :D

Adorable, and very good for a first plush! Each subsequent plush is only going to get better, so keep at it! ^.^

If I may offer one piece of advice, try to leave the ears of the next pony unstuffed, or only very lightly stuffed. Thinner ears would suit the pony a bit more. Stuffing a plush is an art unto itself. :)
Will make custom plushie for MIB Fashion Style Applejack. PM for details!

Great start! It looks really good for your first!
For suggestions...

- You need to stuff a little tighter so there's not so many wrinkles. Stuff slowly, with tiny bits at a time.

- Attach eyes and cutie marks BEFORE you sew & stuff. It's just easier.

- Watch your fabric direction, make sure it goes the same way for the entire plush, otherwise the stretch will make it look wonky

- Valley Violet http://valleyviolet.deviantart.com has really awesome patterns which I highly suggest for beginners!

- For sewing pieces closed and/or attaching pieces, learn how to do a ladder stitch, it's a bit tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it'll be your most important stitch.
