The problem with POP ponies
« on: February 26, 2015, 01:37:49 PM »
I have a few Hasbro POP ponies and they all have one major issue - not all of their accessories fit them!  It's mainly on their heads.  I have a Rarity and the new giant Celestia whose mane pieces don't fit in the holes at all, Celestia's wings are way too loose and flop down toward the ground, and I think one of the wings on my Luna doesn't fit.  Does anyone have any suggestions to make the loose pieces stay in and the big pieces go in?

They fit in via little "pegs", right? For the ones that are too loose, try putting a layer of nail varnish over the peg and see if it fits better, keep adding layers (and building up how thick it is) until it fits. For the ones that don't quite go in, heat the area with a hairdryer for 5-10 seconds and try to firmly push it into place. If it doesn't fit, heat it more and try again.

I collect Nendoroids (a line of Japanese figures with interchangeable parts) and they can tend to these problems as well
Idly searching for: loose, good condition G4 Blossomforth, Starbeam Twinkle, Plumsweet. TTM Celestia doll's wings Within UK or EU only, please.
Will also take in Pretty Pony Club (UK magazine) fakies.

Yep, pegs.  Good ideas!  I wouldn't have thought about nail varnish.  I wonder if Mod Podge would do the same thing?  I don't plan to swap any pieces once I get them into the holes.

yeah the wings especially have this problem.

yeah clear nail polish.  transformer collectors use it all the time to make ball joints hold better.

I had heard of the nail polish trick from TF collectors in the past...never thought of the day it would be relevant for ponies :P Guess the price point and low quality manufacture is kicking in.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
