Scrapbooking/Journaling - Talk about it!
« on: February 24, 2015, 09:43:21 AM »
I'm a lazy scrapbooker - I REALLY enjoy it once I get going, but I'm a procrastinator, so I am forever finding reasons NOT to do it.  My main excuse is that I just hate pulling all the stuff out and putting it back up because my storage system is not so much a "system" as it is a "HOT MESS."   :P

Who else here does scrapbooking and/or journaling?  Got any pictures of your work space/storage system?  I need inspiration!

I journal, and I tend to put things like ticket stubs and such in my journal, sketch in it, use stickers, etc. So it's like a scrapbook, sketchbook, journal combo :). It's messy but no one will ever see it but me, so I don't mind. I admire people who can make interesting, neat scrapbooks that other people can enjoy, too. I'm just not crafty or neat enough! I do try to journal every day, but my life is pretty boring so I find myself lapsing for days at a time.

As for my 'storage system' I don't really have one! I have a big box for art supplies and all the misc stuff I pick up like buttons, old post cards, etc. I'm a bit of a magpie like that. And I have a few folders full of stickers. I keep a few markers & colored pens and a roll of tape in my tote bag with my journal, so I can throw things in wherever I am, whenever the fancy strikes.

I scrapbook. Or technically I buy stuff and find stuff ideally for scrapbooking and then I never use it as when I do want to scrapbook everything I have is "wrong" (wrong colour, wrong shape/size, wrong theme etc). I have a dresser with two drawers filled with paper, scissors, stamps, carbonpaper for cardmaking but to be honest it's been at least two years since I really did anything productive.

I'm glad I'm not the only unmotivated scrapper here, lol!

I have one of those pull cart things for my supplies too, but I have too many supplies for the cart, haha.  MOST of my paper will fit in it, but all my other stuff is in those little shoe box sized plastic boxes, and those things are taking over my closet.  I'm thinking i might buy one of those plastic stacks of drawers, specifically made for holding the 12x12 paper, but I can't decide.

I've only done one scrapbook, for our wedding stuff. I enjoyed doing it for that purpose, but not something I feel like doing further.

Another lazy scrapbooker here. I am just getting photos put into my two-year-old's scrapbook, although the pages have been ready for a long time. I just had to wait until I had another kid with another scrapbook to work on. And now I've got the ball rolling on their next scrapbooks, too. And I have a lot of supplies stocked up for future scrapbooks.

My storage system is not the best, but it works alright. I have a cabinet in the basement that houses all of my craft supplies. I have three or four plastic containers that are sized to fit 12x12 paper, and use those to organize my paper and embellishments for future scrapbooks. Then I have a larger container that is big enough to fit a 12x12 album and tons of supplies, so I use that one for my current project. When I finish a project, I reorganize everything and start making a mess all over again. I use a shoebox sized plastic container for cutting supplies, and one for adhesives, alphabet stickers, twine, pens, etc. Oh, and I have one full of leftover bits and pieces from finished projects.

I don't have any pics, because, well ... the top of the cabinet is a disaster. I'll be camping out here in case someone comes along with a plan. Maybe I'll even clear off the cabinet and take some pics one of these days.

I'm so glad I'm not alone!  I got my rolling cart thing back from my mom, so I'm in possession of all my supplies again. I think I'll start on the baby's book this weekend, if I can work up some motivation.

I'd love to see pics of pages/books that other people have done as well!  I think I'll take pics of mine and start a Flickr album.

I don't have any pictures of complete pages right now, but this is a great idea. I would love to see other people's ideas. Here's a picture of my craft supplies, with the scrapbooking stuff in yellow boxes:

Ooooh, that's a lot of crafty stuff, thanks for the pic!  I really need to get me a few of those 12x12 clear boxes for keeping running projects more organized and easy to get to.

After a vacation I usually have most of the photos printed, and because I tend to collect anything from that trip (plane tickets, hotel vouchers, bills, receipts, whatever), I stick all of these things into a photo album together. That's kind of scrapbooking, right?
I would love to do some real special things though, but I have never tried (even though I have accumulated lots of stuff already).
I have also started to have digital photos printed into real books, and I want to organize these according to years. I am scanning some souvenir material to include there as well, but it's a slow process (and very expensive).
