Are these considered fakies?
« on: February 19, 2015, 01:16:05 PM »
Hi... I found these three ponies today in my storage. Are they considered fakies? If so, people look for these too, right? What might be a good price for selling them?

Yes, those are fakies. If it's not Hasbro or licensed by hasbro then it will generally fall under the fakie label. Usually if it looks like a cheap knock off it's a fakie.

If you look at the hair quality, how it's rooted in the head, if you look at the plastic and especially the painted eyes and any parts of the pony that is painted. Fakies generally have bad quality in those areas compared to MLP.

I have no idea on the going prices for fakies, there are some fakes that go for more depending on the 'unique' quality it might have but the general run of the mill fakies I personally would not pay than a $1 if that.

I believe those are Tara fakies!  They're super cute (I have a few myself that I've accumulated at the thrift).  I don't really know enough about them to give you a price check on them though.

Fakies aren't really worth more than $1-2. Some try for way more on eBay and many give them away for free, but generally in any price check forums I've seen $1-2, I am afraid. And these are in fact tara fakies. I love the babies- I think baby taras want to be my army pony, as I seem to want them all even when I already have that version. Good luck finding them a loving home!

Thanks for the information. I figured they weren't worth much.  I wasn't really trying to make any money on them. I just thought if there are people that look for these, I'd like to put them out for sale on eBay so that those people can get ahold of them.  I don't like to send things to goodwill to get lost in the shuffle if there are people out there that may be searching for them. Although since I put them on my table to take their photo, I think my sons have adopted them!

Well, that's nostalgic - I had the exact same set when I was young(er), they also came with a small yellow stable. Just thought I'd mention that in case anyone was curious.

Really? The brush didn't look familiar to me at all. Do you know who it came with?

Never mind, I found it. I can't believe I don't remember it.

Some people specifically look for these ones, if you join some of the My Little Phony groups, people snag them pretty quickly, in my experience.

As others have said there are plenty of people on the look out for different fakies. I have always struggled to sell them to be honest however as I think often people want them but dont want to pay for them...or dont want to have to face the nightmare shipping cost for them. :P I am sure if you post over in sales you will manage to find someone happy to purchase :)
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
