I didn't much care for the pop pony line, until...
« on: February 16, 2015, 12:04:05 AM »
When I first saw the the pop ponies in the store I didn't care for them. My daughter had always looked at them and told me she wanted them but I always talked her into getting some other MLP item. About a week ago I caved and bought her 2 small pop kits, only $3.99 each. She picked Pinkie Pie and Applejack and she loved them! She played with them nonstop for 2 days so I took another trip to the MLP aisle and picked up a few more yesterday. I have to say that my opinion has changed. They are very cute, she loves changing their hair and putting wings on earth ponies. The cons would be the hair can be difficult to put on for a young child, my daughter is 4 and often needs my help and the wings fall off too easily. For now they are her go to ponies. I admit that I enjoy them about as much as she does, lol.

Glad to hear your daughter is enjoying her new toys, small children are their target audience after all. ;)

Aww, that's great to hear and see. Initially I had reservations about how popular the POP line would be because it doesn't appeal to me personally, but I've since realised that interactive and creative play really speaks to the little ones. And at a cheaper price point it really is an ideal choice to get the most G4 variety out of a few dollars. Do you think you'll get her some deluxe packs or playsets in the future? :)

I wouldn't buy pop ponies now, but if those existed when I was a kid they would of been my favorite pony toy. Easily.

After I saw how much she enjoyed the pop ponies I did get her a bigger set. It's the Fluttershy Cottage Decorator Kit. It came with a couple pieces of furniture and more accessories. Also, the Rarity and Princess Luna kit came with more options as far as different hair choices. My fav is the Zecora set. She really enjoys them, she pretends they go to the hair salon and she changes their hair. Then she has them talk to each other and they tell each other how pretty they look. It's really cute, lol. It's fun to watch my daughter enjoy MLP as much as I did as a child.

If those had been around when I was a kid I probably would have been just as into ponies as I was into dolls; possibly more so. I love the fact that these are meant to be mixed and matched. I also like the fact that the playsets aren't as massive--or at least don't seem to be?--as those for other things. The added bonus that you get to decorate the playsets, too, only sweetens the deal further. Even now, all grown up, I'm interested in getting some pop ponies because of their creative aspects.

I think that these are a wonderful compliment to the mlp brand because they encourage imagination and creativity. As the only daughter in my family, I didn't really have someone to 'properly' play dolls with. My brothers would mess with them for a while, but it ultimately wasn't their thing. Stuff that drew me closer to my dolls and their world--I vividly remember my "Barbie Western Fun Motor Home"--were some of my most played with and cherished toys. (And it had it's share of annoying parts, too. :D )

I hope that you and your daughter continue to have fun with mlp, whether it's with brushables, pop ponies, or any other part of owning these toys. You are very lucky to have a kid to share this with. I tried to get my niece into dolls and she was totally uninterested. (Would far rather play with a computer or her tablet.) Creative, imaginative play is a gift that should be cherished. :)

So cute! Your daughter is the cutest thing ever with her POP ponies-

My nieces LOVE the POP ponies too- I also had my doubts, but I've come around and think they are pretty cute now- especially the play sets!  They have a lot of really cute stuff coming next year too! (there are some here on pg 21 - http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,362758.300.html)

I'm not really into the Pop ponies, but I'm glad to see that there is definitely love for them! Stores around here seem to stock almost nothing but Pop and EQG, so if the ones near you are the same, you should have no problem getting her all the Pops she wants! lol

aww she is so cute and so happy with her new ponies. i too wasn't interested in them at all but i bought a couple for my 4yr old for xmas for developing/helping her fine motor skills. great for little fingers but yeah she struggles a little with the hair and the wings fall of easily. funny thing was both her and her 6yr old brother had fun putting the tails on heads and wings on their rumps etc..... lots of laughing and giggling that morning :D
