Hello everyone!
Well, after lurking around here for a while, reading up on all things pony-related, I've finally got around to creating an account. So! Hello!
I'm still fairly new to collecting ponies. It all started a little over a year ago when my friend and I were clearing out some of her childhood toys; she had a lot of second-hand G1 ponies when she was little. I was immediately assailed and won over by their immense cuteness (who wouldn't be?). The aforementioned friend took heed of my excitement and bought me a Baby Ribbon for my birthday. From then on I was hooked; my friend and I now co-own a collection comprised of her childhood ponies and some newer acquisitions of mine from eBay. Ostensibly we collect G1 ponies, but three G3s, a G2, and a whole lot of those cute little mini G4 ponies (you can buy them in blind bags in Tesco's!) seem to have found their way into the collection as well....
I feel bound to confess that I am totally addicted to restoring dilapidated/damaged little ponies. Mould, dirty marks, chipped paint, frizzy manes, no tails, faded colouring....it is all so much temptation to me. There's nothing nicer than acquiring a poor grubby little pony and giving her a new lease of life. My greatest triumph so far has been making new wings for flutter ponies. Next project: restoring a princess pony whose assorted flaws include a chipped symbol. Interesting ideas involving chrome silver enamel paint have been entertained.
I realise I've rambled on. Sorry! I can be a bit like that once I get started, especially on the subject of ponies.
