The United Federation of Ponies (Starfleet Ponywear)

This past month I did a private swap with CapnChan- I know she loves Star Trek so I surprised her with some custom ponywear. I modeled this after Uhura's uniform, but honestly the difference between this and a male command uniform would be to take but a quarter inch off the bottom- the differences really aren't big at all!

This was my first ponywear I've ever made- hopefully not my last! It's constructed with my own custom pattern, made with a knit fabric, black and gold trim, and three snaps for closure. The communicator was cut from a sheet of styrene plastic, painted and glued together. It was actually very hard manipulating such a tiny object, it wanted to stick to my fingers!

It's not perfect but I think it's pretty good for a first attempt. I do worry about it being colorfast- I realized my Snuzzle was starting to turn pink after she had it on overnight, so I soaked the outfit in vinegar for most of a day and rinsed it out- hope that helps. I did warn Capn not to keep the outfit on her ponies long term, just in case.

I'm not really planning on doing commissions for these because I think my price point would be too high for the average person... sewing costumes is my job so it'd basically just be more work, so I have to charge the same hourly rate I do for my job or I'd actively be losing money, if that makes sense.

It's all mine! Miiiiine *runs in a circle with arms flailing above head* It is THE best ponywear anyone could have ever given me I just love it.

Here it is on my Nightglider. For the record I haven't removed it since I got it but I check periodically to see if there any leeching and none so far! Seems the vinegar did the trick. Though I plan on buying a pony just for this outfit so I can proudly display it for like, ever.

Yea she really did The design is just perfect, a well balanced clash of TOS and TNG really. I told her if she ever makes a set I am all over it like king kong..(kids still say that right?)
