Bought G4 Sheet Set At Walmart, But Having Some Issues
« on: December 02, 2014, 04:06:22 PM »
A couple of weeks ago I bought the matching comforter for the set and last weekend I bought the matching sheet set which comes with one pillow case, one flat sheet, and one fitted sheet and I also bought the matching fleece blanket.

The sheet set looks like this with the comforter:

(BTW, it shoes two pillow cases because it's reversible so it shows both sides but with two different pillows I guess and the comforter is reversible.)

I washed everything when I got home.  The flat sheet is a little weird.  It has rainbow striped going along where you put it on the bed the right way, but the ponies themselves are upside down, except on the top row so I was questioning if I put it on right a couple of times, but after looking at some pictures of it at the walmart website I realized the ponies are the right way along the top row but after that they are upside down so basically for presentation purposes it goes up to a certain point.

But, my issue is the flat sheet and fitted sheet are so slick my blankets slide easily.  I have a twin bed and the comforter and sheets are long enough as it said on the package it can fit a twin and full bed.  Last time I bought character bedding was when I bought G3 bedding, which was exclusive to K-Mart a while back and even after washing the sheets they felt rough.  I got to the point where I had to throw them out but I kept the comforter and pillow case.

My huge cat jumps on my bed or when I change positions the covers are halfway off and I have to keep fixing them.  I have an electric blanket and sometimes I add the new fleece blanket to give it some extra weight but it doesn't seem to be helping.  I hate fixing the sheets and everything at night when I'm trying to sleep.  I had regular sheets on before I got the new sheets and when I had bought the matching comforter and nothing slid off so I know it's the sheets.  I don't know if I should just discard the sheets and use the sheets had on before...  I mostly wanted the sheet set for the matching pillow case but I had to buy a sheet set to get it.

This isn't a huge issue or a crisis or anything, I just need some friendly advice.  I don't want to get rid of the sheets until they become damaged or after so many washes they are too rough or something but I may not have a choice.

Thanks in advance for answers and sorry this was long.

I have the sheets but mine are on a full bed. I haven't had any big issues/problems so I can't really help on advice.

I love them, they are so soft and comfortable. The only thing I wish is that the fitted bottom sheet was ponies instead of heart stripes, etc. But I can deal with it. I like them because they are really soft :)

Did you use fabric softener?   The residue it leaves to make things feel softer may be making them feel slicker.

You can get clips that are supposed to be used on the fitted sheet to keep it tight (Kind of like a bungee cord sort of thing), but you might be able to use them (or something like them) on your blankets as well.  Usually they are around the bedding area.

Yes I did actually.  My fitted sheet fits fine and doesn't move, it's just my flat sheet, electric blanket and my comforter that slides and I have to keep moving it so I'm not cold at night.  Maybe after the sheets have been worn in a little they'll be less slick?

Could you safety pin the sheets and blankets together?

If you don't like the idea of safety pins, perhaps sticky Velcro tape strips.

I tuck my blanket into the end of my bed under the mattress so it can't slide anywhere. I don't use a flat sheet but I imagine you could do it with that as well. I have a queen size bed so not sure if that at matters xD

I think I figured out the problem last night.  I double checked to make sure it was safe before I did it but I tucked the end of my electric blanket underneath the end of my bed with the plug in to blanket part facing out and last night I had no problems with sheets, etc sliding around.   :woot:  So, I think I'm all set.  I was worried that with it being an electric blanket that the coils or whatever is underneath would heat up and possibly star a fire or something from underneath the mattress with the weight or something of the mattress.  Guess not.
