Oxyclean: how effective is it?

Hi everypony!
Today i buy a lot of used ponies. They seems pretty dirty 

I read in http://www.mlppreservationproject.com/ about the oxyclean and its advantages over cleaning the ponies . But i have some questions

Is it true that the ponies can be burned if they touch the edges of the pot?
Oxyclean is truly effective in cleaning Ponies?
I can't submerge the whole pony with the boiled water and oxyclean?

I am new collecting ponies and want to keep as clean as possible. Thank you for your attention and your answers!

This is the right place

Its not the oxy which causes the issue if the pony touches the edge - its just that its so hot and the plastic could be warped and damaged.

I think you will find lots of people have different experiences with it. I like it (or our equivalent over here anyway) but I never use it on ponies with glitter symbols or with so softs when the water is above tepid. In general I feel it works for medium levels of dirt and grime - i.e. stuff I cant get rid of with a scrub but not always with everything that may need a sun fade or some brave work with heavier chemicals.

And yes you can pop the whole pony in the oxi. If you are using this with boiling water, you dont have to be as paranoid as I am with which ponies but make sure you dont dip fully a pony with hair that is not colour fast (Surprises yellow neon hair is the prime example but some of the other neon colours can have problems as well).

Definitely suggest also popping the body off the head and then boiling them so you can dry both parts exposed to the air, and also the insides can be cleaned. Lately I've just boiled water with a bunch of Dawn soap, but that's because I don't have oxi.
It will dry out their hair sometimes, so they may need a nice deep conditioning afterwards.

I have used oxyclean and find it works great, however don't use it on a so soft it can deflock them.

If you don't feel comfortable with the hot pan you could try bringing some water to boil and then pouring it into another bowl with the pony and oxy clean and let it soak there. Might need some repeats as the water cools down but you will not risk melting the pony.

I use oxyclean in a hot tap water bath. I don't boil it it works just as well I think!

I also swear by the magic eraser.

I prefer tooth paste to oxi clean. I scrub the pony inside and out with tooth paste and a tooth brush.

If using oxi clean and boiling water be careful of hair colour, like the bright neon yellow and the red of Twist's hair. Those will leech colour and stain your pony.

Along with glitter symbols and so softs, I highly discourage using any sort of cleaning with more than a damp sponge and minimal rubbing on magic message ponies, assuming their symbols are still mostly intact.  Those things can be damaged very easily!

I don't know about you UK folks, nyt we have Vanish here.

Oxyclean is BOSS for removing smooze.  I have handled some horribly smoozed ponies and have found nothing else that works.  The difference with smooze though is time.  I've had to soak really bad ponies for weeks! I change the water out every few days and just check them until eventually it's gone.  The rest of the pony is fine after a good rinsing.  Oxy makes everything feel coated (including your hands) until it's rinsed off.

I use vanish products. However you can get oxiclean at lakeland limited. Or make your own. But I find all the vanish range is brilliant.

I think oxy clean is ok for cleaning ponies. However, that being said I rather rely on other natural agents if I can. For pin dot mold I find a half/half solution bleach and water works very well too if you only soak them for no more than an hour. I like baking soda with a tooth brush for ingrain dirt,mold ect. I use vinegar for cleaning ponies or killing mold.  I tried reading more on how to kill mold off and that has helped me.
