Any thoughts on why this lot ended high??
« on: November 30, 2014, 10:08:11 AM »
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-My-Little-Pony-Lot-37-from-the-80s-Bait-condition-/191423820257?pt=TV_Movie_Character_Toys_US&hash=item2c91bfb1e1
I was watching this lot from the start hoping to snag it for the Cotton Candy item in it. Anyone know what it's supposed to be? I lost, but would love to know what drove it so high? That bidder kept bidding it up. I know it's the holidays, but are the g1 birthflowers popular? Congrats anyway to the winner if they are a member here.

I agree.  It looks like all 12 birth flowers so anyone looking to complete a set quickly might have found that lot appealing.

That's my guess, too. :/ Either way, wow. I don't think I would have predicted such a high end price, looking at that pic.

Well, the birthday flower Pony's do sell high here in Belgium and in The Netherlands.  When one is up for sale is easily reaches in biddings  $ 40 and if you see how many of them are in the lot ...  Maybe that is the reason indeed.

Hugs

Never thought it could be that. I guess I don't feel quite as bad for losing it then. I just hope the winner wanted the birthflowers or other ponies to justify the price.

I agree about the birthflowers but also that plastic Cotton Candy figure might have made someone bid more. It might just be me but I'd love to have her, on or off her cassette player :)

They look as though they would clean up very well so, might make a substantial start to a collection.  Creamsicle is awesome! Plus Minty, Bluebell, Snuzzle, Butterscotch, Moondancer, Glory, Windy, Fizzy are some of my favorite ponies.  It's not clear whether Moondancer, Glory and Surprise are glitter symbol or Euro metallic paint versions, I'm guessing if they were the US glittery versions they would be worth more?  Maybe the bidder was just starting out and thought of how much postage they would save getting them all in one go? Or just happened to have a lot of those ponies on their wish list.  The birthflowers are not my favorite to be honest except June Rose, my own month!  But I know people pay well for them.

Creamsicle + full collection of Birthflowers in seemingly great condition would be my guess.

Maybe a Christmas Present. I know that if MY significant other asked me for a full set of birthflower ponies (or hinted that she wanted them) I would MUCH rather buy a big pile all at once than hunt them down one at a time...

I can see why it went for so much with all those birthflowers. That's a lot I'd sure love to have.
