When do you put your Christmas tree up?

It's usually a few days after Thanksgiving.  I'm weird with decorating - I like to have the whole house decorated, and I save the tree for last.  So I usually spend Friday on the house, then Saturday the tree goes up.

23rd usually, sometimes a couple of days earlier but definitely not more than week before christmas. It stays up until mid January.

We used to do it on the 24th when we had a real tree, it's in summer here, so they don't last terribly long really. But now that I have a fake tree (waay less vacuuming, lol!) I put it up mid-december-ish depending on how busy life gets! Hubby is a lights fanatic, so we've usually got those up first, and the tree and house come after.

I am waiting until the saturday after thanksgiving (because I work black friday). I would  LOVE to decorate now but I want to enjoy fall more

With my family, (to be honest, my mom, stepdad, and I) it's usually within the first two weeks of December, most likely on the weekend.  We try to set aside a day to get all of the decorations out and be done with it.

Since we're on the subject of cats destroying Christmas trees:

Pretty much.  Slick Dwayne thinks it is super-awesome of me to put up that giant new toy for him.  I can't even put up stockings or decorations because the second I turn my back (and sometimes even when I'm looking right at him!) he decides to bring them down. 

Slick kind of sucks, actually.  :/

If it was up to my husband, the day after Halloween. Then to take it down a few weeks after Easter. And it is a fake tree...

We always do it the day after Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving night, no matter how much I beg to do it sooner.

Don't really have a set date, except "after November". Generally it's whenever we get round to it, so there've been a few years where the tree hasn't gone up until very late on the 24th .

After my birthday (which is also in December).  I'm Scrooge up until that point*, and years of working retail did nothing to endear Christmas music to me.  Nothing.


*Many would complain I'm Scrooge year round.  I'd argue that but they're probably right...

I usually do it either Thanksgiving evening or the day after, but this year my husband gave me "permission" (I don't actually need his permission to do it, he just helps rein in my enthusiasm ) to start to decorate when I finish my NaNoWriMo novel.  Part of me feels bad for cheating Thanksgiving, but since it's sort of degraded as a holiday to be about eating turkey (and I'm a vegetarian, so even that's out for me... my "feast" is usually mac 'n cheese and potatoes.  Not that exciting lol), I don't mind doing the jump from Halloween to Christmas.

Sometimes, I dream about having my house always decorated for Christmas, because I love Christmas time so much, but part of the joy and wonder of it to me is getting to treasure my time with the festive feeling.  I think it'd get old if I left it up too long
