G2 Petite Ponies - Rarity?

They are really the only petite thing I'm missing ...and I have prototypes and wax sculptures lol!
well, I'm also missing 2 of the 3 german shoppes

but I don't think I will ever drop 500 for them 
not crazy about the petite items luckily, the only thing I have is the Petite Palace
and 1 g1 petite pony that is on the way g4 Blin Bag Ponies took over the castle as soon as it arrive LOL
so not much space for the original owners ,maybe I will add few more Petite g1s

I've passed up a lot of good deals over the years, but I am eternally grateful that I was smart and lucky enough(mostly lucky) to nab these little guys when they first came out.  I can't imagine trying to track these down now.  That second set was a total unexpected accident, and I can't believe I managed to get my hands on TWO sets.   

Even more amazing is that I actually have two of the four available for trade as singles, but I've been holding on to them for the right item.  I'd like to use them to complete my G2 collection - I need 4 more ponies, but I only want them either MOC, or loose but mint and complete with everything.  I got really, really lucky with these guys.

I agree goddes of peep! I'm so thankful I got my set then too, I'd be going crazy how a days trying to find them! I've seen a lot on ebay in my day! Remember the seller selling mip Taf babies for like $10 a piece? That had to be 97 or 98. I scooped mine up on ebay and an extra set for another member. Maybe sera flower? The member was over seas. I traded them to that member for a baby apple jack who at the time was a new found pony and also really rare!!

Oh wow . . . I remember seeing a lot of like 50 sets on eBay back in 1998 or 1999--surplus from the event they were used at, maybe?  They'd put it in the party supply section or something instead of the MLP section and I think the lot went for about $40?

Daaang, now I regret not buying them.  I wonder who got them.

I agree with the price being around the $30-40 when I purchased them (because I remember thinking it was a lot of money to spend and was terrified over the international shipping as I was buying them through someone elses ebay account)...although the trade value when I moved them on was a lot higher a few years later - seldom in pony history have I managed to actually buy and sell at the right time (I am normally on the opposite end of the spectrum)

There were a lot of sets around at the time though; I know there were a few people who purchased multiple sets as well. Where they all are now (bearing in mind there are a lot of collectors from back then that we no longer see on the forums) we will never know but I do think 40 or 50 sets was about what was put on ebay not to mention the sets which people did get from the Fair and then try to flip on line (although back then flipping did not quite mean the same in $$ value).
