Headed to HI next week
« on: November 05, 2014, 08:51:10 AM »
Does anyone live on the big island and can tell us what we should do? We prefer non-touristy stuff if possible. I love snorkeling and boats and hiking. We're staying at King's Land and will have a rental car the whole time. I also looove eating fish. Where's the best sushi? Do they have those cool/ weird looking lobsters there?

I have never been but if you go to Volcanoes National Park, please take and share pictures! I have desperately wanted to go out there and see that.

Watch out for the lava!!

I highly recommend a helicopter ride over the active volcano, Kilauea. You won't regret it!

I really liked Wasabi over in Kailua Kona for sushi, it's just off Ali'i Drive. The service a few years ago was really slow but the food was so good, we went back last year and it was one of the best meals we had! Also in that area was Longboard pizza which was really good.
Two Steps is the place to snorkel and has lots of sea turtles on one side. It's near Puuhonua but not the national park. It's next to that.
If you will be there on a Wednesday or Saturday you should not miss the Hilo Farmers Market.
Have fun!
