Would you buy TAF variants of any G1 line?

Just curious if you fellow collectors would bite for something more "gimmicky" from G1.  Do you think you would buy any G1 line (Sunshine, Candy Cane, Tropical etc.) if the only difference was a Twice As Fancy treatment with their symbols (and possibly a different pose)?  Or would you more likely buy TAFs of certain basic lines (Year 1-3 ponies, So Softs, Twinkle Eyes etc.)?

I just got to thinking about this, given the more redundant and gimmicky treatment the G4 line has had.   How much would you guys tolerate a similar treatment to G1?

I'm not really one for multiple versions of the same pony, so I wouldn't be up for that as a general rule. However, with certain ponies, I could see a lot of appeal in a Twice As Fancy look, it just depends on their symbol and colour scheme. Fizzy and Masquerade would probably look nice with a TAF variant.

I honestly prefer when they have all over designs to just a single mark on their rump.

Well, they did make TAF versions of some already existing ponies in G1. Sundance, for example. If they kept it to a minimum and didn't just keep releasing the SAME PONIES OVER AND OVER AGAIN, I would be okay with it. I do think TAF Sundance is prettier than the original.

Seriously though, I dunno. Some ponies would prolly look nicer than others (I can't really imagine a TAF Moondancer, for example).. I don't really like having multiple versions of one pony anyway though, haha.

I suppose it depends on the pony and how different the design is.

For example, I already own TAF Buttons and SS Buttons.  But they look different enough that I think it's worth the distinction.  I would also be happy with a magenta Satin and Lace even though I already own the lavender version.  And I'd totally buy a TAF Wind Whistler. 

The problem is really when they release them so often, repeatedly and don't release much of anything else.

The only TAF pony I have so far is Night Glider and I love how that design looks for her. I could see it working well with other lines for sure, but it definitely depends.

Oh, but yes, I'd probably buy TAF variants.

I would go for TAF/multiple variations of the same pony, especially if it's G1's...

Not so much for me...every once in a while maybe. Which could be why I look forward to the G4 ones. But my problem with the current incarnation, is they are selling ONLY the same ones over and over again. I flipped when I saw Sunset Shimmer on shelves! My daughter knows I won't buy the same Applejack twice, and I don't buy the EQG's without the extra fashion.
when Hasbro did that whole "Core 7" stuff I quit collecting basically. Now it's just exclusives that catch my eye or the McDonalds Happy Meals.

Hmmm...now thats an interesting question.

I think for some ponies and lines the style may work but personally I prefer it being something reserved for a select few. It makes them special for their own reason.

I think if it was the only way to buy a certain pony I would be happy but if there was an alternative way to own them I would go with the basic symbol on the rump way

No - only because they would distract from the originals. Some ponies have TAF versions, and that's okay - but if they had more, I think the original ponies wouldn't seem as special. TAF's are nice to have, but if all the ponies were like that, they wouldn't be as awesome!

Hasbro isn't going to come back and remake any G1s as TAFs. The only way TAF variants of G1s will happen is as customs and there are indeed people making and selling TAF versions of G1s. Sometimes they were once really bad condition G1s or with different gen bases but they are still based on TAF variants of G1s. I think this is a better question for the customs forum tho.

This post confuses me.. no one is saying Hasbro will start remaking G1s??? It's just a hypothetical question o__o;
